Salman Khan laughed at costar Ali Larter's inability to execute Bollywood dance steps in their film, upsetting the actress.
"Salman used to be extremely friendly, as he normally is, with Ali but whenever she would come on to do a dance step, he would stand aside and watch. She would be uncomfortable with the movements and look awkward," said a source on the sets, "and at this Salman would laugh."
"Ali would try her best to get the steps right but would find it really hard," the source added, "while Salman is a 15-year veteran and these steps were daal-roti for him."
Salman would be accompanied by his hangers-on and his gang and they would laugh together. This would distract Ali no end, the source said.
"She was very irritated with Salman's behaviour and found the going very difficult. But being a professional, she would keep her distance from Salman and focus on the tasks at hand."
Finally, when Salman realised that his behaviour was seriously affecting his costar, he reined himself in. "He understood that this might not work for the film. He was polite enough to come up to her and help her through her dance steps," the source said. When they were shooting in Agra he bought her a replica of the Taj Mahal as a peace offering.
Marigold is a romantic comedy and is directed by Willard Carroll (who directed Sean Connery and Angelina Jolie in Playing by Heart). Ali's character gets a cameo in a Bollywood film and meets Salman, whom she falls in love with. The film was shot in Rajasthan, Goa and Mumbai.
Though it's only 110 minutes long, it has seven songs, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and written by Javed Akhtar.
