One of the golden lessons of Mahabharat...
Like we all already know ... the Kauravas who may have had a softer side for themselves ... were termed adharmi's because of the various torturous vicious games they played throughout their lives which finally outweighed everything else ... they were just left with no alternative ... karma had to get them somehow!
But there is probably a very important lesson to be learnt here ... in the Kurushetra war the Kauravas as a team lacked unity ... they had Bhishma, Drona, Karna ... on paper they were pretty much invincible ... its shows your team might have the biggest of warriors but if they are not united and they don't see eye to eye ... a victory may seem impossible ...
Maybe it was Lord Krishna's leela to have Shalya on the side of the Kauravas to create a further rift between the Kauravas ... destroying their will power to an extend ... mind games also play their a part in the bigger picture ... if you spend most of the time demeaning and fighting within it starts to eat away your team spirit ... pieces just keep falling off ... and there is a point where you feel mentally unstable and defeated ...
Just like a soccer match ... you may have the biggest of names on your team but if a team doesn't play as a unit in coordination they lose focus of the ultimate goal ... which is scoring the goal ... instead they start playing their individual games ... for their individual fame!
Whereas, Lord Krishna on the panadavas side always kept them grounded and united ... he was indeed the best team player anyone could ask for ... he always gave them a moral boost whenever needed ... guidance whenever they were unsure ... blessed them with the luck factor ... grounded them to ensure their confidence never turned into overconfidence!
The golden lesson here ... we can emerge victorious only through a unit of combined effort ... UNITED WE STAND DIVIDED WE FALL !!!
