Kick's Overseas Release Plans
Salman Khan is back to doing what he does best - hogging the limelight at cinemas during Eid. Having scored a triumphant run at the box office in the past, with films like Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard(2011) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012), all Eid releases, the actor is all set to once again wow audiences with his upcoming film Kick, which will hit the cinemas on July 25.
And this time, expect even bigger numbers as the producers, UTV and Sajid Nadiadwala, are going all out to make sure the film reaches every nook and corner of the country. Kick is being touted to have one of the widest releases across the globe in the history of Indian cinema - 4,000 screens in India. And there are some major plans for the overseas markets too. Here's the producer's take on the film's overseas distribution strategy:
Amrita Pandey, VP and Head, Marketing & Distribution, Studios, Disney India:
This time Salman Khan is back on Eid with Sajid Nadiadwala's Kick we are hoping to recreate the magic and success of his earlier movies during this period. We are releasing the movie as a big theatre going event movie! It will release across 42 plus countries, which includes non-traditional markets like France, Germany, Morocco and Maldives. We are also exploring delayed releases in Egypt, Taiwan and Mainland China. Most of the markets we are targeting, Eid is a big family occasion and we want to give people a reason to celebrate it with Kick. To extend our reach further the movie will be subtitled in over seven languages, since it's a mass entertainer and is being released during a festival, we want to give everyone an opportunity to enjoy the film. The first trailer and song created a humongous interest and appeal among audience worldwide. The scale, action and Salman's look has been hugely appreciated in the promos. Salman Khan's wit and charisma during his interactions at the Gaiety Trailer launch or at our video press conferences in New York and London have been unmatched. Eid is always a highly competitive release window in many international territories too but the excitement around this movie internationally too has been phenomenal. We release the movie four to five days pre Eid so we are working towards a distribution and showcasing plan which gives us the right push to make it a big week one.
