Indian mythology (or perhaps history) has an amazing wealth of stories which have been fascinating and inspiring our creative minds across various disciplines over the centuries and decades ... from literature ... to art ... to theatre ... to movies ... to television.
Looking back it seems like yesterday when it all started ... but soon it will be time to draw down the curtains across the most memorable era ... The Mahabharat.
We often criticize and forget to appreciate even if they are sides of the same coin. StarBharat has gotten a fair share of flack from fans and critics for their "creativity" so let's take a moment and see the other side of the coin.
We can't deny the fact that the creative team ... from the writers to the directors ... esp Siddharth Kumar Tewary who have contributed unflinching and dedicated their efforts to successfully conveying their own version called the StarBharat - which is much loved and appreciated to an extend for various reasons.
To be really honest I don't really know the "actual" reasons for the distortions in StarBharat, when they had a beautiful well crafted script already as to speak ... but nevertheless I would like to give them some benefit of doubt.
Remaking an epic on its own is a humongous team effort ... planning, casting, scripting, effects ... making it relevant to this era ... perhaps complying to the channels demands ... time constraints ... and many factors!... comparisons and criticism are bound to happen esp when you claim to have a different take on the epic!
But still let's cut some slack on StarBharat ... and let them know their positives!
- Thanks just for bringing the epic back live on screen - gives us a platform to reason and discuss the real epic and its meanings, symbolisms and its relevance ... some truly thought provoking posts on the forums, nice healthy debates, some wonderful OS, FFs, CNAT threads ... introducing us to a class of great writers, making friends and just sharing random musings
- Endearingly lovely back ground score, music laced with beautiful words, the use of Sanskrit is so refreshing to hear ... and thanks to some forum members who can aptly translate them for us
- Detailing ... such as apparel ... costumes, colours, jewellery the fact that every character has their own meaningful tikkas on their foreheads ... it's just all so amazing!
- Camera angles of shots have been great for the most part of it, some use of computer graphics were nice if not all ... the elaborate and vast sets, and the use of some serene locations like the scenes shot by the sea
- Some power packed dialogues ... some funny and catchy ... some heartfelt ... some hard hitting ... some heart wrenchingly touching ... while some real eye openers ... like the initial episodes of Geeta Gyan were so meaning and relevant
- And finally its casting ... bang on to a huge extent ... some actors have become a cult already and will be remembered for their characters in time to come ... perhaps we are still holding on to our favorites and cheering them on till the show ends ... maybe for some this is the reason why we are still here ... personally my top 3 are SRJ, Praneet Bhat, and Pooja Sharma! I also want to appreciate all the actors for living their characters onscreen ... it's tough shooting in scorching heat with retakes ... everyone seems to be doing their part with perfection and sincerity ... even going on maintaining a well toned physique ... and some taking the pains of growing out their hair as to look natural onscreen
All the people behind the camera as well we realise and appreciate the fact that StarBharat was your life for the past year!
Respect and heartily congrats for all the positives StarBharat!
Like I have said before ... I want to cut you some slack StarBharat! đ
There are enough distortions and criticism threads floating around ... let's just leave this one for some appreciation ... so go right ahead and tell them why they are still loved despite everything ... be sure to add onto the list ... if possible keep it clean!! đ
