Brand Name/Designerwear

Why do people make such a big deal over the brand of an article of clothing or anything else for that matter? Are the expensive designer items really worth their price? Is it a sign of social status? What is the hype?

I'm very simple person but I'm brand conscious! I like wearing simple branded clothes and sandals! I don't judge others on the attire but I defintely see if others(whom are glaring to ) are waering branded clothes and articles!

BTW I'm speaking about local brands😆

Making a BIG DEAL = show off.. and is very low in my eyes.
wear what u afford and like and what suits 😊

i like people who are creative and dazzle with their presentation as opposed to showing off a brand label that's available to all men / woman of all sizes..

now if one wants to make special designer outfit for mermaid_qt, then i am all for it 😆 cudn't care lesser otherwise. smart and cewl is great way of dressing.
I am ofcourse not against any labels, but don't feel naked w/o them 😆😆

its a complete waste of money. as simple as that, i dont get whats the big deal u see so many things in store that are so beautiful but are not branded and then u see something completely plain and unappealing and its branded and ppl still go and buy the branded one even though its a 50 times more expensive. i really dont care about brands, i go around and look at anything thats really appealing and i buy it wether its branded or not. and i still get compliments on my cloths all the time. but if ur wearing and branded ugly shirt ppl are just gona be like oh that must be expenisve but noone is gona come up to u and say u look amazing. and anyways if u can buy 7 gorgeous shirts with a 100 dollars or u can buy one plain branded shirt with the same 100 dollars why would u go and waste that money on that one shirt???? 😕

As in everything in life , judging someone based on what they wear is a two way street..😃 .. Let people who love to spend money on brand name clothes wear what they feel like. Not all brand names are worth every penny but most are.

And if money is no object , like in TLC "What not not to wear" where they give someone $5K visa card and ask them to buy Good stuff to wear , we can see how much of a difference it makes when they buy good fitting trendy clothes..😉

Brand Name. Well I agree that most of time it is about the show off thingy. But most of time people go for a branded product just because they are obssesed about it. People who buys and generally tries to follow fashion magazines would def go for branded product and clothes no matter only it for once. Not only just to make a social status it used to show that the person is up to date and smart. No matter how stupid the person maybe looking in that designer piece

Dadi.. this basically comes under the "Snob Value effect" in Economics subject!

Snob value can be anything..be it designer clothes, jewellery, expensive portraits etc etc. "Anything" which is of high value or expensive.. and has a little usefullness can be taken as Snob value.

It has existed in History since loooooooooong. The theme of superiority and inferiority are unavoidable. Seriously, first they had gold, now they have designer clothes. These are just signs..symbols..indications.. And it all revolves around high/upper society ..with middle class following them blindly. Show of money and its value has become important after industrilization....and it is still prevelent in 21st century

I can only say to people.. open your eyes.. look for good quality less price. And pay that money [which you have saved from buying snob-value goods..probably RS 1000] to the fruit-wala..from which you might only have saved 10 rupees that after a 30 minutes fight 😛

It's a way of showing off the money they have. Otherwise, maybe they feel less of a person or something Personally, I think why not spend that money on something more important, invest it into sumthing, give some to charity. Brandnames are total ripoffs. Not that I am have complete hatred for them or something but I hate when people only wear brandnames, b/c the rest of the world isn't good enough for them.

I feel brandnames are a waste of $$...and usually not worth the price...and
like sum1 said..its better to be indiviual and wear something that isnt
branded but looks nice.
