The first half of 2014 saw business drop compared to the first half of 2013 to the tune of 8% mainly because there was no release that emerged a blockbuster.
The top hits were Ek Villian and 2 States while Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty was the biggest nett grosser. Jai Ho had the highest share but was the white horse as the film lost for distributors who all paid premium prices but the profits of the producers far exceeded the loss of the distributors. The producers made the sort of money with Jai Ho that very few releases manage.
