Creatives show regressive messages these days. Why they still continue their VO? Gulli track is too regressive. Marriage is essential - Anandi and Jagya were forced to marry/agree to marry. Sanchi has to marry just after the rape, and now even Gulli. So what if barat returned and her rishta broke? Is she some illiterate girl? She is working as teacher and independent. Why this hurried marriage? Is there no need to even know who the groom's parents are? Hardik may not care for his parents, but what about Gulli's grandparents, DS or even Shiv and Anandi? Is it OK that a boy comes to a village (or district) meets a girl and is allowed to marry her without his parent's knowledge, his only near relative (DB) present there being against this marriage? Is it not necessary to marry a well settled working boy? So far creatives have not shown that he is working in US (or I missed something?).

And this bindi missing is reinforcing superstitions (due to articles, we already know that Basant is going to die), do creatives really believe, or want us to believe that if the woman forgets the bindi, sindoor etc. her husband will die? Do viewers really like to see such things. Is it a sure shot way to raise TRPs? If not, why such regressive tracks?

Puja, as far as bindi track is considered, I don't think they are trying to show that husband will die because wife is not putting sindur or bindi.
The way Nandu said to Gehna, that I always want to see you with bindi, I felt that she will be encouraged to put sindur or bindi even after Basant dies. And it will surely a good message if it is really shown that way.

@bold - I will be happy if they could show that.😊. However, it looked like sign of the coming disaster - serials love to show all this.

Even my six year old points it out, when I accidentally forget to put my small bindi.
What does he know of general sentiments involved with it ?
Its just a matter of habituation, the way children have a habit to see their parents or ppl close to them.
Not going into intricacies of why they have shown a scene like that, I liked it very much, as it is very close to reality at least from my perspective.
And as mentioned by Rushmee, would like it very much if Gehna continues to wear Bindi even after her husband's death...most importantly to see her child happy.

The bindi thing was symbolism for the Basant death track; It was good they showed Nandu with her because koi aur elderly outsider hoti toh she would have started with a taunt "Kyunri tera beend parlo sidhar chuka he ke?"🤢

Sindoor she cannot, Hindu mein widows do not put sindoor after husband passes away

But she should be encouraged to put a bindi Usually a widow will put black small bindi but I wish they show her putting colored one bhale hi small but a colored one.

Very good topic you raised Puja !
Acc.. to BV CVs ...marriage is a must for every woman ..that too, if she is in any sort of trouble , marriage is the only rightful solution , the only remedy ...and again she has to face many tests there ,and time and again she has to prove her chastity , and respect towards her in laws , ...then only she will get the right to live peacefully ...for some time !!!

It can be looked at from other way too. One prospective groom and his family dropped the plan of going ahead with alliance after getting to know about the rape attempt on Gulli. Wasn't that a regressive attitude?Refusing to marry a girl just because somebody attempted to rape her?
Here Gulli's grandparents have seen a lot.First they got their child married off when she was a child then her marriage failed she ran off with someone and gave birth to a baby and died in child birth. All this happened in a life of thirteen year old girl.
Then they tried to marry of Gulli when she was a child. Why did they do that? Simply because they are prisoners of tradition.
When an alternate life was shown to them through Anandi they educated their grand daughter.
She went thru a harrowing time because of this rape attempt.
Gulli and her grand parents wanted to put all this behind and move on they wanted a life partner for their only grand child who would help her move on in life. They were honest and forthright with the groom's parents. What did they get out of it?
Now they hid it and tried to get her married. It got revealed in the worst possible manner.
The groom walked out.
Did they even stop to think why they hid it? Why did it never occurred to them that it is not girl's fault? Were they not regressive in thinking?
Why should Hardhik marrying Gulli or Gulli marrying Hardhik be seen as regressive? Why can't it be seen as a sign of progressive thinking?
Hardhil liked that girl for all the right reasons. He has seen her and from what he has observed of her he decided that she is the right girl for him.
As for Gulli marrying in this dramatic fashion - she probably is ready for a marriage. She wanted to get married to a guy approved by her grand parents. From what she has seen of the guy he is much better than the other guys she has seen. The previous guys who walked out how much did she know about them?
Isn't marriage between two individuals? They are getting married for the right reasons.
What is the reason for DB's refusal for the marriage? Wsn't she regressive in her thoughts and actions?
Hardhik on his own admission has left his parents because of ideological differences. When he is making his own life what is wrong if he chooses partner who is more suited to the kind of life that he wants? In what way is he regressive?
I think the repressiveness here is represented by the DB the groom and his family who walked away from the wedding mandap and the groom who backed out when he heard about Gulli's past.
Progressiveness is represented by Hardhik and Gulli
As for Gulli's grand parents they did come a long way from the days when they tried to get their grand daughter married off to Heth Singh's son.
For them surviving this rape attempt and Gulli's head injury resulting in her slipping into coma is a big enough ordeal.
They were only trying to get a life partner to Gulli and I don't think they were in apposition to survive another ordeal of having a groom walk away from wedding alter.
They probably are tired of life they wanted ensure that Gulli is not alone in the world.
Just because they wanted to see their grand daughter married that doesn't make them regressive.
