Only two super-hits of the year- Two States and Ek Villain
Other successes of the year- Heropanti, Ragini MMS 2, Gunday and Main Tera Hero
Soon to be super-hit- Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania

Out of the nine successes from the first half of the year, 67% of them have featured newcomers. I mean even a film like Yaariyan was a moderate success. This is probably the first time in the history of Hindi cinema that newcomer films are doing so well. Do you think that the audiences have embraced the newcomers as opposed to a time (early to mid 2000s) when only films starring well-known actors would work?

20 year effect. Superstars are born every alternate decade because we are willing to nurture them.

Well, the Khans have not had a movie YET. The competition for the biggest BO numbers and the biggest BO numbers will belong to the Khans for at least a while.
The difference between Khans and newcomers is that while they have to have minimum quality standards for their films to get decent BO, for the Khans none of it applies. In most cases, they just have to show up.

That said, always nice to see new and good talent succeed.

Its high time. Its a shame to keep seeing 50 yr old romancing 20+ yr old on screen.

i guess yes,..and its good,..
like for how long 45-50 years old Men would keep on going to college,..🥱

though i don't deny Khans still rule BO,.. due to big budget films, massive fan-following and marketing,.. but Audience loves to see a variety n new-comers are giving them,..

teenagers and college goers prefer watching younger actors onscreen than the rather old brigade. Yess definately when its a srk, salman or amir film people do move out to watch it (basically with family). But when going with friends these newcomers n their movies r preferred 😛
its the urban audience thats embracing them.

All that said a newcomers movie wouldnt work without a decent script n talent ( eg lekar hum deewana dil) but a Khan movie even with the worst of the scripts would somehow end up being a hit

Well, when these oldies who are ruling now , replaced someone when they entered as newbies and though a bit struggling , they are accepted, same with new comers now, and luckly apart akki, and sallu old actors dont have movies releasing left and right which is a saving grace, so new comers have all the time, platform and acceptance time from audience
New lot are promising, sure some of them need more polishing, but they are not out right ewww
