Ever since the Param fiasco, Ishita's character seems to be getting some depth. Divyanka has been nailing EVERY scene she's in. Notwithstanding the current track, it must be said that the acting from everyone has been excellent.
I know we have all been saying this, and applauding both the leads (and in fact the supporting cast too), but I felt like repeating my thoughts today.
Divyanka tugged at my heart-strings today. I know we are all supposed to feel sad for Ishita, but with the way Divyanka enacted Ishita today, I "identified" with Ishita. Each of the following scenes made an impact on me today:
- The way she wiped her tear when Ruhi asked her innocently about requesting God for a brother>> Ishita's helpnessness and sadness was so evident, you cant but help feel for women going through such scenarios in real life. Divyanka nailed it!
- The mirror scene in the bathroom, when she kept on repeating "kya faayda" >> if there was ever a perfect depiction of heart-break, this was it!
- The way she tried folding that saree when she comes out of the bathroom >> we often pick meaningless tasks to distract us from deeper pain. and we get frustrated when we are not able to complete them, because the pain overrules the motions of our body. And the frustration was so effectively portrayed by Divyanka
- The way she confronted Raman with her questions about Adi and then walked off >> I think this was the first time we saw Ishita really losing control over her thoughts and action. It was warranted as well, but I could have never imagined Divyanka (who comes across as a very calm person) to show these extreme emotions! This was REAL.
- And finally, when a girl (I am deliberately using the word girl and not woman) is in pain, and needs her mother the most, she lashed out at her mom for not being there >> This may be one of the most natural things we all do. That was in fact, one of the rare occassions, I have been so choked while watching this show.
Hats off to you Divyanka! We are lucky to see you portray Ishita.
