Random Ramblings of a Disturbed Mind

Hi there people!

Yesterday, I was a bit in a daze and occupied with all things a birthday girl is usually occupied with, but I didn't forget to watch Rangrasiya. And the episode was, well to me, the episode was amazing as usual.

But a slght hint and atmosphere of the forum indicated that not many of you enjoyed the episode and wanted more of the main lead couple. Trust me when I say this, that nothing in Rangrasiya interests me more than PaRud, but please just hear out what I am going to say next with an open mind. Please.

Somewhere around the 20th June episode, my mother had stopped watching Rangrasiya. Now, we all know that the 20th June episode, no matter how hot and beautiful and amazing and PaRudilicious... It wasn't exactly family-friendly.

And that is exactly the reason why many of you (teens between the age 13-18) might have ended watching it online without your family. And the pseudo-adults( ages 19-25) may have done the same.

Also, lets take in regard the ages 26-45. For most belonging to that age (In India), 9.30 is family T.V. viewing time. And with new moms/ new brides, its a risk to watch two people burning the screen with husbands/mom-in-laws/little kids.

I am not saying that they shouldn't be BURNING up the screen. Lord knows I will stop watching if they stop BURNING up the screen.

But what I am saying is, if they keep on filling whole episodes with Paro and Rudra and their love story, the older audience will LEAVE.
You ask me why... Well, how about you ask your moms and aunties why they simply aren't interested in Love Stories any more?
Its simple. There life is so much more than a gooey floss flavored Love Story that we girls dream about. To be frank, none of us will like the same type of love stories we like right now 5 years from now.

And so, they cannot really take it if day after day only PaRud love story is being shown. They need more. They need the family aspect. They need more dimensions to a story.

Yesterday was the first time after a long time that my Mom sat with me, cuz Samrat and Mohini were what she saw on screen, and asked me what is happening. What has Mohini done now. When I told her that she was going to get Samrat re-married, Mom said this aurat!! And then sat the whole half an hour for the episode.

The same applies to a larger indian demographic... If you get what I mean.

So, they WILL show a little bit of Mohini and Samrat and Maithili and Sumer. Let us not forget that this weeks TRP jump happened as Mala Maydem jee has made an entry, and Rudra is trying to forgive and forget. And Paro is being a good bahu.

We will have to commend the creatives on not really destroying the essence of this beautiful story and the characters and still managing to get a measly gain in the TRPs, but what I would like to point out to you people is that WE (Audience which gets colors on TV.. I have no idea how many countries gets colors.. The ones I know of are India, UK, Pakistan, US... Tell me if there are more) are ruining our own show.

This struck me when I was reading an article on Cracked.Com.

It majorly pertained to the US shows but some of its point hit home with Indian Television as well.

If you don't want to waste your time reading through a stupid article on an internet site, I'll just point out things that it stressed upon.

The most important aspect is, WATCHING YOUR SHOW WHEN IT AIRS. Like seriously. Nothing is more important to them than you investing your half an hour when they tell you to. Please tune in at exact 9.25 and please sit through the ads of the first segment atleast. Because you see, ADs are the lifeline of a show. Nothing else is. If they don't get sponsors, that means they are screwed.

Second one, is regarding the internet viewing. Now I know that many of you don't really bother watching it on Youtube. To which I say, please DO. Watch it on youtube. Be it atleast once. But please, make sure that you do watch it on their official channel. And for everything that is pure and holy, DO NOT USE AN ADBLOCKER SOFTWARE.

You see, the point here is again, ADs... Rozi-Roti it is.

The revenue generated by Rangrasiya, is only if people watch the Advertisements of their sponsors. It is really as simple as that.

What does the general average viewer do nowadays? Well, they take the easy way out and download the episode from desi-something.com... Which in turn, leaves a Babaji ka Thullu in the hands of the entire team of Rangrasiya and the sponsors who are investing their money into this show and the channel who is giving them a prime-time slot.

So, for one, if you contribute to Youtube views, please don't use Ad-blocker. Even skipping an Ad will atleast make you see five seconds of the ad, in turn a fraction of the percentage of payment that a sponsor does for primetime viewing, they'll do for internet uploads.

But to the audience which get it on their Televisions, PLEASE watch it on Television. WHEN. IT. IS. AIRED.

Why increase TRPs?? So that the creatives don't have to bring in cliche tracks and ruin the beautiful essence of Rangrasiya.

Regarding the storyline of Samrat-Maithili. I know that it is not as intense as Paro-Rudra, but it is a beautiful love story nonetheless. For I believe that every love story is beautiful. Maithili is not your quintessential chupchaap zulm sehne wali bahu and possesses a spine. And trust me, it is a thousand times better than every other show on every other channel. And that even you will agree with me.

Rambling Done.

Sorry for boring you.

Much Love
Anky

First off happy birthday senbon! May the next year be full of as much happiness and love and much much more!

Secondly (I'm probably gonna reiterate what you've already said but...) I can't agree more! We need more than just Rudra and Paro, and I am probably one of the first out of the lot who vouch for more Rudra...and erm Paro, because lets be serious Ashish is ridiculously beautiful and every husband should aim to look like him. Kya? I'm being serious. If my husband doesn't look like him, samjho baat ain't paaki! (I've never fan girled this much for someone ever)

I liked Samrat and Maithili yesterday, heck I appreciate screen time for anyone other than Paro and Rudra because there isn't really a development to the story if we don't see anything else is there?

I appreciate how the creatives are developing other stories but still focussing on the current main one (stalker wala) it just shows how well they've thought it through, as much as we don't like Gautu he does have a brain up there ya know.

Thank you for saving my ijjat Asho. For I thought ki I went overboard with my rant and everyone will probably call me a nagging dadi-amma now.

And Thank you for the birthday wish! :*

And what is the fun with having 8-10 main recurring characters in a show if they are used as props? Isn't it brilliant that they use them and develop layers in them too so that they don't appear fake? I was all jumpy and excited to know Mala-Dilsher story ka background and I am all excited at watching Maithili stand up for her love, her world, her husband.

My cyber-biwi(Couch_Potato) is actually madly in love with Gautam and is going to fly down to Mumbai and force marry him. -___-

And after 20th June, yesterday was the first time my Maa even came in my room to watch RR with me. Nahi toh she was all "yeh log toh inki love story hi dikhaate rehte hai.."

And she was all happy with Rudra saying, "chup.." and "khaana khaa chup chaap.." to Paro... Cuz that snippy side of Rudra is fun for her to watch! 😆

Also, Mr. Sharma DESERVES all the phangurling in the world. I am ashamed at the amount of LOUV that pours out from my heart and body for him. And I convinced my guy to get a Moonch... He already had a Stubble after ASR :P

Thank you Jazz!! 😃

And an amalgamation of good stories is an Epic Saga. And Rangrasiya deserves to be a Saga.

Hi Ankita. Happy birthday once again. I agree with everything you said. And I went around posting similiar thoughts in quite a few threads last night. I don't like it when all the attention is on one or two characters. The side characters and supporting actors should be given time to tell their stories and show their talents as well. Or they'll just up and leave.

I wish I could contribute to the TRPs in any way. Colors YT has blocked the episodes in the Middle East, all I can watch are episodes which are about 2-3 months old. And my family isn't going to install Colors here, because none of them watch Indian shows. Mom gave up long ago, when Ekta Madam sponsored plastic surgery. She watches only Pakistani Tv serials, that too a select few. So I have to rely on desi-etc.com. Or Dhruvie, who uploads HQ versions everyday. The fact remains that although people outside India pay much more for the channels, their viewership isn't really valued. Because it doesn't bring in as much revenue.

Thank you SS-sa! And thanks for agreeing! And exactly. They'll start being unsatisfied with their jobs (the side characters), and then they'll just up and leave. And a serial is usually like a Jenga game. One piece falls, and before you know it... The whole of it is falling apart.

I am sorry that this is the case with you. And Colors is to blame for blocking their YT videos here. I wish some sort of tweeting or talking to them would work. The least they can do is make YT available.
