We all have our own likes/dislikes and personal inclinations. The areas where we share them with friends/colleagues/bosses/relatives etc we get along well but the point where it clashes or opposes how much do we tolerate? There are times when a person is in position of power/superiority and exercises it for his/her own personal choice and you have no choice but to relent. Is there a way to deal with it? Do people in positions of power tend to be less tolerant?

Finally , Can we fend off prejudice? in our work/judgement/decisions.

It totally depends on the situation and the person/situtation.

Personally, I don't find it easy to resist my prejudice towards someone/something. If I am biased, I remain that way till a miracle happens.

I don't get along with a few family members (for a valid reason). My parents, in spite of being aware of all that, usually insist that I be nice to them and etc etc. But, I refuse to do that.

According to me, if your prejudice is based on a justified and rationalized reason, it is not wrong and there is no need to resist that. But if the prejudice becomes a problem for somene else, you might not be left with a choice. For example, if my parents's relations are going to be strained with those few people due to me, then it definitely wouldn't be right on my part to stick to my prinicples.

You have got to bend your principles according to the time and need!

its all about Ego.. people in power tend to believe they acquired this power due to their inherent abilities and hence show strong biases and are less tolerant... You cant do that... its human trait... which doesnt stop revealing every once in a while...😊

Just like food chain, we are all players of Ego- chain. So the less powerful ego gets smashed under the higher player.

I say blame God for making us all different....!!!!and not giving us all same dose of tolerance and compassion.

Thanks😳 for such a honest answer. Its tough to resist overcome our prejudice and most of the time it stays. But it takes courage to accept it. Prejudice will definitely cause problem for the inflicted person. Yeah that bending is difft.

I concur but would like to see it from the inflicted person's view. How does he/she deal with it? Would prejudice color the judgement of person in power/position ?

What is prejudice ? to me it means "judging someone or having an idea about them before you actually know anything about them."

personal its all depends on the individual... we live in a multi racial society and as individual we should respect each other as they are..."but" certain groups are labeled by media or ideas of past experience has given you a small insight of the person or group... as humans we need to be more tolent and intelligent....

People in positions of power also can get away with their show of prejudice most of the time unless they are too blatant about it.
How to deal wiht it-face the situation and voice your concerns. But how many of us do that? We tend to take it out on people who are in a lesser position of power.

Thanks for the wonderful answers Tisha. I agree all of us have some prejudice or another but can we overcome it? may to some extent. Its only when we are the victims do we realise that it hurts.
