Kratika Sengar is an actor par excellence. She's a natural beauty who personifies the innocence, poise and grace of a swan. This virtuoso actress is a scintillating performer who does not fail to leave a jaw dropped whenever she works her magic onscreen be it as a character or as a dancer.

Kratika is one of those actresses who possesses the rare ability to fit easily into the skin of a given character. Kratika started off her acting career with Ekta Kapoor's "Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi" with a cameo as Sanchi.However after that role, Balaji Telefilms was impressed with her marvellous perfomance as a debutant and as a result, Kratika bagged her second role as Prerna a.k.a P2 in Kasauti Zindagii Kay. Prerna was sweet and caring girl.Kratika started her spree of winning thousands of hearts worldwide with this character. Acting the role of P2 enabled Kratika to strengthen her acting abilities which would set the foundation for the rest of her career in the industry.

After playing positive characters in in her earlier endeavors, Kratika took up the role of an antagonist, Naina, in Balaji Telefilm's Kya Dill Mein Hai. Naina was a selfish, obsessed lover whose aim was to marry Rahul no matter what the circumstances were. This role enabled Kratika to show her versatility as an actress.

Kratika ventured into her first project with Zee TV, with the historical drama Ek Veer Stree Ki Kahaani... Jhansi Ki Rani'. She essayed the role of Rani Laxmibai who was a fierce warrior that fought for her country's freedom. She was a righteous ruler and believed in imparting justice to all. Manu, as she fondly called, carved her way into the hearts of the people to become an iconic and legendary figure in India. Kratika received rave reviews for her marvelous portrayal of this character.

She mentioned that playing this character was a dream come true as Rani Laxmibai was an inspiration and a symbol of strength. Kratika had to undertake courses such as horseback riding, sword fighting, gun firing order to mould herself into that character. She considered these learning experiences as a blessing for her.

Kratika talks about her experience/role in Jhansi Ki Rani

How has the experience been playing the historical role of Jhansi Ki Rani?

It's been an incredible experience which I will never forget in my acting career. I didn't know that I could ever play such brilliant character which would be praised by everyone. I also I feel satisfied as a performer. I want to thank the makers and God who gave me this character so early in my career. I have learned a lot from this show. I am happy that besides acting, I know various forms of acts like sword fighting, horse riding, martial arts.

What was your reaction when you were approached for this role?

I didn't know how to express myself and frankly speaking, I wasn't that sure about playing this character. But after lot of confusion and discussions, I finally agreed. Now, the journey of this great warrior lady is coming to an end, and I have mixed feelings about that. I will miss the action in the show.

What changes have you noticed in yourself?

Earlier I thought I was a very chui mui type of girl who could act only in saas-bahu dramas but now after one year of JKR, I feel I have grown up. I feel stronger both mentally and physically. By doing this role, I believe all woman have traits of Rani Lakshmibai in them. One just needs to explore our mind. I feel proud about myself.

What have you learned from this great personality?

I have learned from her many things. I didn't know that she was great political thinker and a social reformer of her times. Three things I have learned from Rani Lakshmibai is that it is very important for every woman to be strong mentally, to be truthful and be dedicated.

What kind of difficulties did you face while doing action sequences?

I feel everyday brings new challenges for me on this show. I had never imagined that I would be doing stunts or learning mallakhamb for the show. My legs and hands have been injured numerous times. Frankly speaking, it is not easy to shoot such scenes in heat as mostly we shot outdoors

What kind of response you have got from your fans?

The response is completely positive and encouraging. When I did Kasauti Zindagi Kay, I was called P2 but now everyone calls me Manu. I feel they will remember Manu for a long time. I am overwhelmed with response I get wherever I go.

After her show Jhansi Ki Rani finished, she took a very small hiatus and returned to Zee TV once again with the series Punar Vivaah-Zindagi Milegi Dobaara'.This show told the story of two individuals who found happiness for a second time after deciding to start a life together.Kratz, as she is commonly called by her fans, essayed the role of Mrs.Aarti Yash Scindia opposite Gurmeet Choudhary (who played the role of Yash,). Aarti was a divorcee and became the mother of four kids after remarrying. Punar Vivaah started on February 20th 2012 and ended on May 17th 2013 after a successful year run. Kratika won acclaim for the commendable performance once again. Awards received for her performance in PV included: Best actress (The Pearl Rattans awards) , Best Celebrity Jodi (along with Gurmeet Choudhary in the Boroplus Gold Awards), Most entertaining television actor-female (in the Big Star Entertainment Awards).

What about the role of a single mother in Punar Vivah excited you?

She is not a helpless mother but a person who is ready to face the world even after her husband has left her for another woman. Her in-laws want to see her married as they feel Aarti is suffering. She has a son and when she realises that her son is deprived of a father's love, Aarti goes ahead with the marriage. I chose this show because it's a romantic story which is very different. I don't think this concept has been tried before on television.

How has been your experience of shooting with Gurmeet Chaudhary?

We haven't started shooting with each other, but I can say that he is a brilliant actor. We have good chemistry onscreen and that is why our promo was highlighted before the start of the show.

So, what were your reasons for taking up this role?

The very fact that my role is a complete departure from playing a freedom fighter on a mission to save her land and people. Aarti is a modern, contemporary Indian woman who is mature, full of positivity and a loving mother of a 6 year old son. Life has dealt her with a blow in the fact that her first husband leaves her for no fault of hers. But Aarti isn't the kinds to lose hope. She learns to keep smiling, more out of a sense of responsibility towards her son.

Did playing Aarti entail any preparation? How is it different from your previous work?

As an actor, one's preparation comes through sheer observation of human behavior as we go through life. Both Yash and Aarti are real people faced with real scenarios in life. Playing them effortlessly can come only from putting yourself in the shoes of the character. You need to ask yourself, "How would I react if this were to happen to me?" The role is extremely different from anything I have done before.

What is the USP of the show?

Punarvivaah is a mature, progressive show that sensitively captures the journey of a man and a woman, who having faced a debacle in their first attempts at marriage, are brave enough to give life a second chance. It's a story told with many relatable moments. It is a sensitive look at what two people go through when they attempt to re-discover marital bliss a second time, the adjustments involved, the impact on the psyche of their children and how they hold it all together.

How is your rapport with your co-actor Gurmeet?

We're still getting to know each other. He seems nice. We believe in giving each other space on the sets but when it comes to work, we're fully focused and support each other. I have met Debina as well. They are a sweet couple.

Currently, Kratika is doing a cameo role in Devon Ki Dev...Mahadev which airs on Life OK. She plays the role of Mansa Devi. Mansa Devi is a being who possesses immense power and as per the current track, Mansa is requesting Lord Shiva to bless her as a Goddess. Mansa's character has various shades of grey, negative and positive. This turns out to be Kratika's first role in a mythological series.

After finishing Punar Vivaah, Kratika started shooting a movie "My Father Godfather" along with Sharad Malhotra. This movie is said to be India's first full fledged movie to be released exclusively on Youtube.

"The Movie My Father Godfather' is a story about a couple. Jahanavi and Prakash are struggling in the television industry to make a mark, Jahanavi wants to be a famous actress while Prakash wants to be a writer. How difficult circumstances force Jhanvi to take a stance which makes her entire world go topsy turvy forms the crux of the story."

What is your greatest asset?

Kratika: I think my will power.

Are you possessive by nature?

Kratika: Very (stresses)... but only with few people.

What is the craziest thing you would want to do?

Kratika: Well I'm already a crazy person and keep doing crazy things all the time. But if I had to do something really crazy, it would be paragliding.

If you had to choose between love and family, who would you choose?

Kratika: Family

If you were asked to change your name what would it be?

Kratika: Neverrr (says it loud and clear. When asked what does Kratika mean, she responded saying it's a Nakshatra).

If you are given a choice to get into a person's shoe and live his or her life for a day, who would that be?

Kratika: My cousin sister who is in 9th standard. She loves school and enjoys her life a lot. I would love to experience her life for a day.

Do you read newspaper? Which section do you enjoy reading the most?

Kratika: Bombay Times only (says in a heartbeat). I love entertainment news and gossip.

What do you need to change about yourself?

Kratika: My aggression (laughs).

Are you adventurous in life?

Kratika: Very .. I'm totally adventurous. The thoroughly enjoyed all the stunts I did for my previous show "Jhansi Ki Rani."

What are you proud of?

Kratika: My commitment, that I am very focused and I know my limits, I am very proud of them.

Do you forgive yourself easily ?

Kratika: No. I keep regretting. I go into thoughts and I keep thinking about it. That's one negative aspect about me.

If you could add one feature to your phone what would that be?

Kratika: I would want the memory space to increase to maximum GB so I that I keep on recording stuff and keep on clicking pictures.

Are you active on social networking sites?

Kratika: No, I'm not a very social person when it comes to networking. I know it's very important to do social networking but I am a very private person. I don't really open up with people. Infact I have not even added many of my fans on facebook and so they very annoyed. So they have created a page for me where I interact with them. So as far as my real facebook account goes, I have added only my school and college friends.

Kratika: I'm like weather. I am always changing. I don't stay long enough so that somebody can catch me or get to know me. So I am very unpredictable.

Kratika Sengar has major plans for herself in the near future. She is going to be married to Nikitin Dheer who is a Bollywood actor. He was last seen as the villain, Tangabali in the Shah Rukh Khan,Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express. They are expected to tie the knot later on this year around September.

Kratika, in an interview said "It's an arranged-cum-love marriage. I was shooting for Niketan's father Pankaj Dheer's directorial debut film 'My father God Father'. Nikitin 's father then decided to approach my parents and that's how Nikitin and I met. I bonded really well with Pankaj uncle and Nikitin and eventually started liking each other. The date for the wedding has still not been decided but everything falls in place we might marry on September 3 2014."

She describes Nikitin as a transparent individual, gifted with a pure soul who has entered her life as a blessing.
