This statement is coming after watching hawaa hawaai. Okay the movies wasn't like really great. Stanley was better but still it was a very well made movie with some good acting. I don't know the verdict but I think it is either flop or disaster? With reviewers giving it 4-4.5 stars and the movie tanking, should bollywood even bother with putting effort on scripts, acting, etc.
Or should they use constipated actors like aamir khan and feed us with 2hours of chase sequence and collect 500 crores?

Also some movies like lootera which actually had some story didn't work at all. Even highway which was so well made.

good question.

i think to make good movie takes lot of hard work. famous and rich bollywood people can not do that. so they use old formula and do publicity so that many richshaw walla will come to watch. all they need is item song with vulgar lyrics, and computer generated fight scenes.

classic example is dhoom3, this movie amir khan takes may 2-3 days to shoot, all work is done in computers.

Audience is really unpredictable... You never know what they will like or what they will not.
If they watch Dhoom3, at same time they love 3 Idiots
If they watch Chennai Express, at same time they love Barfi
If they watch and entertain Dabaang 2, at same time they give 2 States chance
Films like Houseful, Humshakals, Son of Sardar earn money, at same time Queen, English Vinglish, Vicky Donor also become suprise hit

So directors and producer should just trust their work and project they are doing because there isn't any set formula! If a film with Aamir Khan works, then film with Tiger Shroff will also work!

Also director, team, actors, production house need to believe their work and PROMOTE their film well to let everyone know about their product

They should. I have so much respect for Vikramaditya motwane for creating Lootera. They had so many problems during the making of the movie, but they still hung on and made it.

Sure, it didn't do well at the BO. Some even found it boring, but there are others who LOVED it. I think for the later it makes the effort worth it, if you're passionate about something regardless of what anyone says about it, you should go ahead and make it. You can't please everyone. Every movie has fans, haters and critics. No movie is 'universally' loved (for lack of a better term).

Masala works at the BO, but some of us don't like it. That doesn't stop masala movies from being created and it doesn't stop them from working at the BO. There are so many things in this world that can't be explained. Re: Twilight. It sucks. But it is a bestseller. Teenage girls love it.

Just because a movie isn't appreciated at the BO or doesn't work doesn't mean it IS terrible. And they should still go ahead and create some of these movies, because they do have an audience that appreciates them even though it may not work at the BO. Some day things will change.

Computer generated fight scenes take a lot of time, energy and hard work. Yes, they may appear silly on celluloid, but these things take a lot of hard work. And what's wrong if rickshaw walla comes to watch it. They like it, so good for them.

success of bad movies by movie makers and taste of audience factors are many :

1. Instead of creative ideas movies mostly becoming a product where marketing part is more rather than creative part. Thats why all movies collect their more than half of money in 3 and 4 days. The time people realise what is movie is about it already made its business. Marketing factor is so strong that we all went gaga over a movie on its first week release. After first week we realise what a crap movie 😆

2. We may argue that a big portion is rikshawala type etc. but it is hardly true infact todays movies are targeted mainly high end consumer. In marketing perspective its targeted consumer are multiplex viewer and oversea market which have social profile of high end consumer. Those strip kamli or item songs are made on the basis of highend taste only , rikhawals just addition market.

3. Are they worth it for say a Rs. 500. Its difficult to say may be it seems like we so desperate that we try to find happiness in humshakal or find some entertainment in those masala movies. May be its better to watch them online rather than movie hall. But the trend is opposite we watch those meaningful movie onlline.May be as audience we will realise after a time and those marketing tricks that make us ulloo banaoing will not work after a period .

good points. BW needs movies like 3 idiots thats the reason people went to watch dhoom3. there are good films here and there and people go to watch new movies in hope it will be good. but they get cheated like dhoom3 example.
BW is going through a very bad patch with no new creative ideas and family audience have rejected watching movies in theatres. BW is ruled by powerful mafia who use media, publicity, power whatever to promote their movies while dont let any good movies get big release or support. if this trend continues, public will be totally fed up and BW movie business will end.
