On the outside, LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL has some prominent names attached to it. One of the producers of the film is Saif Ali Khan. The grandson of the late Raj Kapoor, and also cousin of Ranbir and Kareena Kapoor, Armaan Jain, plays the leading role. Imtiaz Ali's brother Arif Ali makes his directorial debut with this film.
Frankly, it is a first for many involved in the film! For director Arif Ali, it's his directorial debut. For actor Armaan Jain, it's his acting debut in Bollywood. For Deeksha Seth, it's her acting debut in Bollywood films as well, although she has acted in many Telegu and Tamil films in the past.
Everyone associated with the film would hope that the film scores at the box office.
Unfortunately, I don't think that will be the case. As I stated in my predictions for BOBBY JASOOS and I will now state here too, the audience has been spending so much money on big/successful films recently such as HEROPANTI, HOLIDAY, HUMSHAKALS, EK VILLAIN, and soon they will spend it on HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA and KICK.
With all that time and money spent, how much of the audience will actually be willing to spend their time and money on a film with newcomers that is not carrying strong buzz anyways?
Sure, LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL holds some appeal for the youth, but there is another film releasing in a week with bigger stars that holds a lot more appeal for the youth: HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA. Therefore, the youth would rather go to see that film. At best, LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL would likely attract college-going females to the theatres, as they may be attracted towards Armaan and the love story element of the film, but audience-wise, that's about it!
The film is set to take a poor opening and will likely struggle at the box office.
My Box Office Predictions for LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL:
Opening Day: 2 crores net
Opening Weekend: 9 crores net
Lifetime Collections: 15 crores net
Overall Box Office Verdict: Flop
