just made a vm, hope you enjoy.

258 took us straight to the phone call. i am tempted to capitalise the "the" here. what a beautiful and utterly sexy way to tell the one you adore that you actually, er... um... don't cry, please mat roh... you actually love her.

she of course, instantly cried and lovely tears flowed and floored. he almost choked up too. and he still looked all asr. tender, worried, filling with the need to love, eyes deeply emotional, perhaps a little lost even, but stance a hundred and one asr.

this was their phone call. no one could speak beautifully of love like that over ordinary phone lines... nor of irritation, anger, frustration, hate... those phone calls of theirs... what was really happening in them? the visuals swam before my eyes, coming together, coalescing, breaking up, spreading again joining up... a whole string of them like those pearls... what strung it all together?

a long, languorous vm tries to find out. it is 7 minutes and 40 seconds long, so if you have something on the stove or a deadline waiting, or he's waiting to find out "haan ya na", maybe you shouldn't see it right now... but at some point, please do see. i loved making it... you might like it too. the sensuous and powerful voice of atif aslam in the background.

kate, thanks for your help with the episodes.

my very poor translation.

asr: khushi kumari gupta, i'm not letting you breathe in peace so easily.

asr: don't you ever, ever do this to me again, d'you understand? do you know for how long i have been trying to call you! why didn't you pick up the phone, i was so worried!

khushi: must be amma, babuji! hello! i was waiting for your call! you haven't slept as yet?
asr: what?!!

asr: khushi... khushi, talk to me! are you alright? where are you!

asr: if you're done with talking rubbish, then listen carefully!

khushi: i am absolutely ok... i am at the temple. you don't have to be concerned...

asr: it's not about concern!

khushi: arnav singh raizada!

asr: what the!! why is khushi's phone busy!

asr: i mean... there's so much work to be done, how can you leave like this suddenly!

announcer: the dialed number is busy now.

khushi: who knows who the lord governor is talking to now... and that too just when i need to talk to him!

asr hears her line is busy: she must be talking to her fiance! (note gritted teeth)

asr disconnects his phone. a call where nothing is said...

asr: khushi, i love you.

khushi: first you put it down... then i'll again say, "no, first you put the phone down..." then you'll again say, "no, first you put the phone down..." are you from lucknow or not?!!  and why are you quiet now!
(refers to an old joke about the highly courteous folk of lucknow who carry on with elaborate courtesies such as letting the other person get the first chance... so, you first... no, you first ... carries on while trains planes buses spaceships are missed.)

asr pretends to be akash.

khushi embarrassed: jeeja ji... that...

asr laughs meanly.

asr: i keep track of all that's going on with you.

asr: she must be sleeping... in some taekwondo pose.

the song

kuch is tarah, teri palkein meri palkon se mila de
a bit like this, let your lashes meet mine

aansoo tere saare meri palkon pe saja de
arrange all your tears on my lashes

kuch is tarah, teri palkein meri palkon se mila de
a bit like this, let your lashes meet mine

aansoo tere saare meri palkon pe saja de
arrange all your tears on my lashes

tu har ghadi, har waqt mere saath raha hai
every hour, all the time, you've been with me

haan yeh jism kabhi door klabhi paas raha hai
yes this body has been at times far at times near

jo bhi gham hain ye tere unhen tu mera pata de
whatever are your sorrows give them my address

kuch is tarah, teri palkein meri palkon se mila de
a bit like this, let your lashes meet mine

aansoo tere saare meri palkon pe saja de
arrange all your tears on my lashes

mujhko to tere chehre pe ye gham nahin jachta
on your face this sadness doesn't appeal to me

jayiz nahin lagta mujhe gham se tera vasta
doesn't seem right a relationship between you and sorrow (sadness)

sun meri guzarish, isse chehre se hata de
listen to my plea, remove it from your countenance

kuch is tarah, teri palkein meri palkon se mila de
a bit like this, let your lashes meet mine

aansoo tere saare meri palkon pe saja de
arrange all your tears on my lashes

Spellbinding!!

Heard that song for the first time only couple of weeks ago.. Kudos for visualizing and presenting it the ultimately beautiful way..the under currents in all their phone calls freely dancing, consuming .. literally here..

What exactly he/ she felt at the time of those phone calls .. starting with the one after the pouring rain (did La regret giving Khushi's number?? she DID wonder why he needed that at that hour!!!)...to where he could free spiritedly enact his bro.. fill the spaces between them with that fire and passion razing inside of them.. just like they did that day on the stage abandoning the full public view or much in private in that  farm house... beautifully brought together visually here...brilliant..

This love story refuses to leave the senses as it brought all the hazy dreams. imaginations of a man- woman ardor perfectly into living breathing frames...so did your vm.. the beauty refuses to leave..

Lastly, at the cost of sounding plagiarizing, this idea has been playing on mind ever since that all important phone call, to interlace all their phone calls, (but by the time all the ideas in my head take a shape I will retire.. but ofcourse asr will still be that gobsmackingly suave, hollywoodish, handsome as there is no sunset on asr blvd)...

thank you very very much for this stunning presentation..still absorbing...

Indrani what to say.  You are brilliant dear.  You have taken all of their phone calls and pieced together their beautiful love story for us.  I watched the VM once and I am going to see it again and again.  Love the lyrics to this song and it is perfect on them.  For me the most memorable phone call was the one where he said Khushi  I luv you !!!!   Never have i ever heard anyone else say it with so much emotion.  The huskiness of his voice and the pain that he felt knowing that he might not see her again came through so beautifully.  sorry for the rambling but somehow when it comes to these two I just can't  stop.  Thanks for sharing this VM with us.

every word up there devilish good and makes me faint.

ardour... oh after such along time i hear that.

hollywoodish did you say? ohhh. gobsmackingly suave oh yes.

so you felt the undercurrents too? how desperate he was to call her to not let her breathe in peace... the unconsciously astute la sensed the strangeness of the situation... disproportionate anger... always a sign. he looked so good making that call. i passed out again and again... and when he laughed after doing the akash act later, i was transfixed...

i kept hearing and seeing whispers of farmhouse and teri meri right through, even diwali, something sensuous, something calling out, desiring, wanting, giving, and then the ardour.

plagiarise? never... once you reach that supreme phone call, you are bound to think of the others and wonder if there's something going on there.

thanks for liking the vm. you know i am new to this... and oh it is exciting... great medium to communicate things... just now saw vms in arabic. in what the state. and happy too.

Loved how you used that song as a basic theme and kept coming back to teri meri and farm house in between those hushing and puffing phone calls to describe the undercurrents.. its like a well accomplished musical concert where the player expertly plays around with the notes of the melody and keeps coming back to that stanza.. the initial IPK always felt like great musical with not a single note out of place..

Surely La was the only stable/astute head there among them. She was the only to sense their emotions early on to where she had to ultimately submit to their surge..

Indi, I am glad you are into and enjoying vm making.. yes this is a great medium..last two have been nothing short of brilliant. Although with those stunning faces, emotions and that BG score it was a great recital, its always more touching to convey something musically.

Arabic vms, have to check .  heard some Pashto ones..
