Did acting happen by chance?
Not really, I was modeling and walking the ramp and took a conscious decision of entering the television world. I always dreamt of acting and worked towards achieving it.
What is your dream role?
I would love to play the Hema Malini's vibrant role of Basanti in Sholay. This particular character is entertaining and also innocent, just like Basanti - genuine and true at heart.
Do you want to shift from television to films?
Actually I haven't thought on those lines, if I happen to get a good soulful role I would grab it. I have been offered item numbers, which I have clearly refused, because I don't want to be slotted as an item girl. I'd rather do some serious acting on television or in films, whichever gives me
better bait.
What do you like about your character?
My character of Sandhya Oberoi in Meri Doli Tere Angna has a lot of colour to it. It's an out an out negative role. I'm the troublemaker in the family. I can't reveal much with the serial still being in its developing stage.
What did you like about this role of Sandhya Oberoi?
It is a meaty role and whatever I have done till now is the most prominent part. I get to do a lot of nakhras and nautanki. I play a shrewd and focused woman and the role offers a lot of variation. It is quite difficult to ignore it on the screen.
What is the similarities and differences between the reel and real you?
My character and I are similar on terms of our go getting attitude but I'm a kind person and won't go to the extent of dominating and controlling others. I live to achieve what I want and will work hard to do so.
Which Hindi cinema actor has influenced you the most?
I admire Amitabh Bachan and Madhuri Dixit. Both of them are versatile with their talent, they have played roles which are young, old, positive as well as negative with equal aplomb.
