Mansi was totally wrong in thinking that Shashank and Ankita had an affair behind her back and are having a baby together. It is the worst kind of character assassination that one can think of precisely because she has seen and known the two of them so intimately.
She needed to ask herself just why would they have an affair now, when nothing stopped them when Shashank wanted to marry Ankita initially and even Ankita was not disinclined to the idea, before his mother expressed her reservations to the alliance. Then there was no Naren in the picture.
She needed to ask herself why Ankita had put in so much effort to make Naren alright, if she had to do this. Did Ankita not take the help of Mansi and Shashank to get Naren out of the house. Why would she have done all that if she had wanted to have an affair with Shashank? Wouldnt it have suited both of them to have naren out of the way, if indeed they wanted to have an affair?
Instead she bacame inclined to believe the worst of both of them.
It is when a person is down and needs help that relationships are tested. When Mansi was going through the worst time of her life, it was Ankita and Shashank who gave her support. Shashank stood by her and married her even when his mother opposed him. Ankita put her married life at stake at that point. What made them do it? Just so that they can have an affair at the end? In hindsight, it looks like everything they did seems so obvious and normal and need not deserve even acknowledgement, let alone some kind of reciprocation is it?
Same is being said about Ankita's contribution to her siblings life. From the kind of poverty they saw, which made day to day living difficult and had Prashant doing menial jobs for providing for the family, instead of getting educated, to the present situation where they are getting good education and a minimum quality of life, everything happened just like that isnt it? Is good living not to be equated to comfortable living. But no, all this has no value at all. And what Ankita did needs no reciprocation at all. She was doing all this so that she could be mahaan. Not contributing to their welfare. She deserves nothing.
Mansi could have asked them directly what and why they are hiding things from her. She had every right to do so. And scold them badly for doing so and tell them what kind of speculations were going around.
But for her herself to arrive at the worst kind of conclusions about their relationship without giving them even one chance to explain, speaks a lot about her.
