On the ninth day Krishna, overwhelmed by anger at the apparent inability of Arjuna to defeat Bhishma, rushed towards the Kaurava commander,The wheel of a fallen chariot in his hands. Bhishma lays down his arms and is ready to die at the hands of the Lord, but Arjuna stops Him,reminding of His promise not to wield a weapon. Realizing that the war could not be won as long as Bhishma were standing,

Hmmm...was this Day 9 or Day 3? I get confused myself...😕

But whatever...like I said, the main reason for Krishna breaking his vow can be regarded as Arjun not fighting properly and / or Bhishma being a Krishna bhakt...

Krishna rushed towards Bheeshma both on the 3rd as well as the 9th day.

Mainly I believe it was because Arjun was not fighting to the best of his abilities. Many scholars have also interpreted that Krishna wanted to set an example to the world that no vow/pledge/loyalty is that big that it cannot be broken for the cause of dharma.

Both..! Mahabharata states the first reason and Srimad Bhagavatam states the second reason.

I was sad after reading the promo description on FB. Bheeshm getting injured by someone like Shikhandi...seriously? Now this is a major degradation to his military side. Recently they have added lots of fictional scenes to defame him, like Yudhisthira being held hostage to threaten Bhima. 🤢

I expected them not to ruin his fall/death. How silly of me!
