A poised Nita Ambani joined the board of the country's largest private company yesterday to a rousing welcome from shareholders who had been clamouring for her induction for a while now. More than 70 shareholders spoke about how they had been rooting for her considering her work with the Reliance Foundation, and her emergence as the humane face of the company. She continues as the chairperson of Reliance Foundation while taking the place of her husband's uncle Ramniklal H Ambani who retired at 90.

Meanwhile, the diarist can reveal that corporate India's first family is not amused at attempts by a certain film family to use their so-called proximity to their advantage. What has miffed them is the incorrect information about the Ambani children that's being given to the media recently. Could it be to garner column inches for the debutant star son? Having a ball

Akash Ambani may have been taken off the road by his concerned parents after the Aston Martin incident, but it has not stopped him from flying high. The Ambani scion has been taking his private jet to football destinations to watch his favourite club play. We believe he was accompanied by Vinod Khanna's son Sakshi (whose wait to be launched in Bollywood seems to take forever) among other buddies, as he burnt a fair bit of aviation fuel to cheer for Man U. So are the boys flying to Brazil as well? The plans are there alright.
