Smiley's Ruqaiya carried grey shades much better. Her characterization was subtle and grew on you. She also had a little mystery to her. Lavina's Ruqaiya is not that good with grey shades. She plays the vindictive, jealous wife to the hilt and exuberant friend very convincingly. But in-between she falters. Smiley was able to render a greyness to every shade of Ruqaiya. Though, Lavina's expressions are better.

Looks-wise, Lavina wins by a huge huge margin. She looks every bit the Central-Asian descent, delicate, Mughal princess with her milky-fair skin, light eyes and light brown hair. Smiley, though good-looking too, looked very Indian but had a very Lakhnawi feel (nawaabi andaz) to her. I didn't mind smiley looking too indian until Lavina's entry. Only then could appreciate Lavina's persian look. Probably that is the reason the makers decided to replace Smiley with Lavina. Just a guess 😕

smiley was replace becos she was ill...
but I completely agree smiley as ruqaiya has a mystery and grey shades in her...smiley as ruqaiya the character sketch was amazing and royal ...her chemistry with RT was awesome...smiley portrayed ruqaiya with elegance and grace...

lavi portrays ruqaiya well too but the focus was more on jealous wife and spoilt brat...the mystery was missing in ruqaiya...but she gave her own unique touch to ruqaiya...she performs it beautifully...and her chemistry with RT is good...she brought her own grace and charm into ruqaiya...not to mention...she looks gorgeous as ruqaiya

Didn't know the reason for Smiley's exit. Thanks for letting me know 😊

Lavina's Ruqu is much nicer and warmer when compared to coolness of Smiley's Ruqaiya. But both had good chemistry with RT 👍🏼
