Although there are lot of promising movies but only presence of genuine superstars will ensure highest collection as will have guaranteed good opening weekend. I think it narrows down to just four of these movies.

Bang Bang

Kick

HNY

Please vote your bet

Mine goes like this

1 and 2 will be Bang Bang and PK in any order

3 and 4 will be HNY and kick respectively.

Top grosser is between Kick or PK

3rd will be Happy New Year

4th Bang Bang or Singham 2

6th Bombay Velvet

Diwali grossers in last 6 year despite doing good business could never reach to no.1 grosser

2008 - Golmaal Returns
2009 - All The Best
2010 - Golmaal 3
2011 - Ra.One
2012 - Jab Tak Hai Jaan/Son Of Sardaar
2013 - Krrish 3

All top grossers in last 6 years are either Christmas or Eid release

2008 - Aamir's Ghajini on Christmas
2009 - Aamir's 3 Idiots on Christmas
2010 - Salman's Dabangg on Eid
2011 - Salman's Bodyguard on Eid
2012 - Salman's Ek Tha Tiger on Eid
2013 - Aamir's Dhoom 3 on Christmas

If Bang Bang, HPY, Kick or PK turn out crap. They'd be facing rejection like Jai Ho, Kites, Ra.One or Talaash

Even if these films aren't as good, they'll still manage to get a high grosser. Being a "big star" film is always an advantage.
I always hear people saying Jai ho, or Chennai express, or dhoom 3 weren't that good, but they still became a huge grosser cuz of the "khan" name. You gotta admit.

Although having a big star in a film does help with the overall collections, it is not the main deciding factor for how much a film grosses. About half of a film's lifetime collections will be based on the hype, star cast, etc but the other half is based on the audience appreciating a film.

Chennai Express and Dhoom 3 were liked by a huge section of the Indian audience. Or else there is no way that these films would've done over 200 crores net (Dhoom 3 almost even reached 300 crores!).

Look at Besharam. A HUGE 21 crore first day, but lifetime only 50+ crores. Because the audience rejected the film!

Look at Chennai and Dhoom 3! 30+ crore opening days, and HUGE lifetime collections of 200+ crores, which signifies that a huge section of the audience liked these films! 😊

Sorry this post was not specifically directed at you, it's just that there are a lot of people on the forum that feel that these movies like Chennai Express and Dhoom 3 are becoming huge blockbusters with a negative WOM, which is not the case! 😆

I agree with you most of the opinion...but this time around it's little hatke. According to me the best holiday advantage is with Bang Bang and HNY followed by PK

If we look at Bang Bang

Oct 2 - Gandhi Jayanti

Oct 3 - Dussera

Oct 4 & 5 - weekend

Oct 6 - Bakri id

That's almost 5 days holiday in a row

HNY has Diwali followed by weekend which will be huge as diwali holiday falls on Thursday

PK has christmas followed new year

Kick has just eid

So, I will go with Bang Bang

Any of the the biggies that have free run for 4 week with lil or no competition wud be the highest grosser. And i dont have the calender.

PK for me.. as always, people will watch the movie for Aamir.. Regardless of what the story is, People will watch that movie for aamir and Raju..

btw talaash wasn't rejected by fans..it was different movie and it didn't have blockbuster all time great type of content.. unusuall film for unusual fans
