My dearest Jalaluddin-Muhammad (as of now not Akbar),
I am a huge fan of yours. Have been following the ups and downs of your life for past one year quite faithfully. In fact I'm part of a small community of your ardent fans who not only follow your life story but even try to analyze each and every act, word, look of yours to understand what makes you click and what makes you tick. So I believe you owe us this small explanation.
Jalal, we saw you getting married to Jodha, hating her, then slowly start trusting her and eventually falling in love with her. Through it all, your actions were always consistent. your hatred towards her, then the sense of camaraderie and later love, it all made wonderful sense. Your outburst towards her supposed unfaithfulness made many of us mad but somewhere it made sense too. We sympathize with you no matter what you do.
But today I didn't understand your behavior. Could you please explain how and why Ruqaiyya Sultan Beghum's behavior different than Maham Anga's? She did something similar to separate you from your beloved Jodha. In fact I'd say her deed was far lesser in magnitude on the scales of betrayal. When she betrayed you, it was exactly that; she betrayed YOU, the man Jalal. Not Shehenshah Jalal. Her deed did not affect per se the aan, baan, shaan of Mughaliya Sultanat. But what Ruqaiyya did, she not only deceived you, she deceived your mom, your mughal khandaan and mughal sultanat (your words, not mine) too. Still you chose to forgive her.
No issues man. It's your right. But could you please explain why these double standards? Was it just because your beloved Jodha asked you to understand, you did? And at the time of Maham's deed, since she wasn't there to guide you (?), you didn't? How is Maham's act so different than Ruqaiyya's? And why should the community call you hen-pecked?
Is it because Ruqaiyya is your childhood friend? But then isn't Maham your companion from childhood too (mind it, at a cost of great danger to herself)? When Maham exploded when you confronted her, she asked you why does a mother loses her importance after a biwi comes? Haven't you proved her claim right? A biwi was forgiven when a mother like figure wasn't?
Jalal, I'm not bashing you. Neither am I interested in bashing you beloved Jodha. Frankly, I am not interested. What's confusing me is this inconsistent behavior of yours. And I'm highly vexed because of that.
