As Abdul walked to his house, he looked at the dome of the Mosque; the Moon and the Star, visible. Being the Imam of the Mosque situated two lanes away from his house, he had served it for almost 23 years, conducting the daily prayers there. He looked at it as if he knew this was the last time he was seeing it. His steps slowed down as his eyes watered. Suddenly he realised he had to hurry. He wiped his eyes, took a deep breath and walked briskly towards his house. He entered inside and locked the door.

Gathering the broken sim and memory cards, and all the papers scattered on the table, Abdul hurried to the kitchen. He took out a matchbox and set the things on fire. He then checked every nook and corner of his house if everything was clear as he had wanted.

Everything was done. He now had to wait... wait for the time to come. He sat on the sofa waiting for the doorbell to ring. He looked at the clock. 12:30 AM.

Abdul became a bit restless. He got up and began walking up and down the length of the hall, his pace increasing every minute. He suddenly sensed some movement outside. He stood still at his place. He could see, through the window, some shadows approaching his door. He felt relieved that they were here, whom he was expecting, in time. He looked up, "Ya Allah, tera laakh laakh shukriya!"

As he walked towards the door, he knew, either the doorbell would ring or there would be a knock on the door. But neither happened. He stopped at his place, a bit confused. Maybe, it wasn't them. It was all quiet for a moment. He suddenly heard a "click". He stared at the door in horror, as the latch rotated. "Ya Khuda!!!" Now he was sure that it wasn't them! In no time, the door flung open. Four men rushed into his house. Before he could understand anything, he felt severe pain as a sharp knife cut through his flesh. He fell to the ground.

Meanwhile, the other men searched through his house. "Kuchh nahi mila, saale ne sab jala diya hai!" they informed their Boss.

"Kya kuchh bhi nahi bacha jo kaam aa sakta hai?"

"Nahi Boss! Humne aag bujhai hai, lekin sab jal gaya hai!"

"Koi baat nahi..."
He kicked Abdul in anger. And Abdul heard a familiar voice, "Tum ne toh sab mita diya... aur humein tum ko mitana pada! Lekin koi baat nahi, ab WOH samajh jaayega aur humein humaari manzil tak pohochaane par majhboor ho jaayega!!"

A tear escaped Abdul's eye. The men left the place, leaving Abdul to die. Abdul closed his eyes, as the warm red fluid oozed out from his wound.
