Zoya couldn't believe the conniving people she was forced to live with. As she walked down the street to what she would never call home, just the place she was forced to stay, she thought about everything the lawyer said and she couldn't believe how they had duped her into believing she had to wait over a year still. Well she wasn't going to enlighten them that she knew the truth. It was better for them to believe whatever plan they had up their sleeves was working. As she walked towards the front door, her cellphone rang and she looked down to see Asad's name on the screen. He had been weird this morning when he'd come into the cafe. She knew something was wrong but she had no clue what. Maybe he was trying to let her down easy. Maybe she should let him. After all his presence would complicate things for her present situation anyway.

She answered and he said in a deep erratic voice, "Zoya, where are you? Ae you at home yet? I need to see you." She laughed shortly. "Slow down, I'm just getting home and what's wrong?" she asked getting worried. "I just really need to talk to you." She heard him sigh heavily. "Can you meet me?" She smiled, "Sure, I just need to get freshened up and I'll meet you at the cafe. "NO! " Zoya jumped at his loud tone, "I mean, you don't need to do all that, just come right back to the cafe. I'm close to there. "What is wrong with you today? You sound jumpy. I'll just freshen up and meet you. I won't be long."

She hung up before he could protest any longer shaking her head. Something was definitely up with him. As she entered the house, her guardians approached her. "Zoya come and sit down. We need to talk." Zoya started to panic internally. Did they know she had been to see the lawyer? "I have to go back to the cafe, can it wait?" she asked not wanting to spend any time around them. "No it can't."

She sat down heavily and waited for them to do the same and get this over with. "Do you know an Asad Ahmed Khan, Zoya?" Akash Gokul asked and Zoya felt her insides freeze up and ice spread through her veins. She couldn't breathe. They knew about her seeing someone. They even knew his name. She had to play this right. "I-" she cleared her throat. "I've heard the name, I think he's a regular at the coffee shop."Mrs. Gokul leveled her a hard stare. "Cut the nonsense, we know about your relationship. Actually we were the ones who sent him to meet you." Zoya's brows furrowed and she was confused, "What do you mean you sent him to me?" The older woman sighed and looked at her husband. He started, "There is a clause that says if you have any romantic involvements, you lose the trust fund. We asked him to get involved with you so you'd lose everything." Zoya gasped and she swore her heart stopped a second before she could breathe again. Her chest felt weighted and she struggled to think, "He was sent to make her lose her inheritance? To get involved with her? It was all a lie?"

Zoya stood up abruptly and ran from the house. She continued running and running. Soon the rain started and she was drenched but she didn't care. She hadn't needed to hear anymore. What they had said was enough. He had used her. Lied to her. Played with her feelings because of money? Zoya didn't know how it happened but she found herself standing outside of the coffee shop. One minute she stood there not seeing anything. Not feeling as the rain drenched her to her bones and then suddenly he was there and she felt the pain and anger of his betrayal soak through her and she pulled away. "Don't. Touch. Me." She sad softly. The calm before the storm. "Zoya what are you-" she cut him off, "I said DON'T TOUCH ME!!!" she screamed. "You lied to me." she stared at him caustically. "You used me!" She saw his face fall and he went pale. He rubbed a palm over his face and said, "You know." Zoya felt her temper flare, "'You know.' That's all you have to say for yourself?" She pushed at his chest making him stumble back, "You tricked me. Pursued me and made me fall in love with you all the while you were cheating me because you were working with them!" She turned away disgusted. "I trusted you and told you about them and you listened. You were so kind, so understanding. But you knew!!!! You knew what they planned. How they planned to deceive me and take everything that was mine!"

"Zoya I am so sorry. I really am. But it wasn't all a lie." he said coming closer. "You're sorry?" she asked. "Is sorry supposed to make everything better?" "Zoya please I do love you." Zoya couldn't take it, as a reflex to the pain and anger, she lifted her palm and slapped him across his cheek with a resounding thwack! "I never want to see you again. Stay away from me." And with that she ran off in the still pouring rain leaving a now drenched Asad standing there feeling hollowed out and dead inside. He had lost his heart just now, she had taken it with her. He didn't know how but somehow she was going to get her back and his heart with her.

Zoya didn't want to go to work but she needed the money. Her guardians didn't do anything but let her stay under their roof so she had no choice but to go to work. When she got there she saw him sitting in his usual spot and stiffened in recognition. She walked quickly by him and put her bags in the back and started to get tow work. "Can I get chocolate scones and a black coffee?" He came up to the counter and asked. She replied curtly, "We don't have any." She turned away and started making the coffee. "I see scones in the display." He said and she looked and saw that there was indeed scones in the glass case. "Someone else already ordered those."

She heard him sigh exasperated and she almost smiled at his discomfort. She handed over his coffee and cashed it. "Can we talk Zoya? Please?" He asked reaching for her hand but she pulled it back before he could get to it. "I'm working." She turned away. He didn't give up. Every day for the next three weeks, he came into the coffee shop and everyday she ignored him and had another waitress handle his orders. He always tried to talk her into meeting with him so they could talk but she never accepted. She changed her phone number after his calls kept her up at night. Two weeks later when it still hadn't let up, she asked her boss to change her to the afternoon shift so she wouldn't have to see him altogether.

But one evening she wasn't able to avoid him any longer. She took the back entrance to leave one evening because she had to take the trash out and he was there waiting for her. As she dumped the trash he cornered her and held her hands prisoner against the alley wall so she couldn't escape. "Zoya please just listen to me. Please. I love you. That wasn't a lie. When we met, it started off like that but I really fell in love with you. All the time we spent together, it wasn't a lie. I love you so much. I can't live without you in my life. Please talk to me." He begged and Zoya's eyes filled with tears. "How can I believe you when you were sent to deceive me. You're a liar and I can't trust you. Please!" She clasped her hands before her, "Please leave me alone!"

Caught off guard by her words, she was able to break free and she ran away from him.

Asad stood there feeling like his heart had just crumbled at his feet.
