Hello there ! I am Mahi . New in this forum and hope to have a great time here 😊
Further , I am in for any sort of civilized discussion or debates . I have made this post as a jhalak viewer and not as an outrageous fan :) . Lets not indulge into unwanted bashing or virtual smacking😆 .

The pattern of jhalak has always been that the more popular contestants bags the trophy and the dancers have to feel satisfied as the first/second runner up , in most of the cases .

The pattern of result calculation has always been 50% voting and 50% marks received from the judges . The best of dancers like Lauren , Sushant , Ritwik , etc always managed to get amazing numbers but the more popular contestants like Drashti , Chang , Gurmeet top the voting charts (with their dedication ofcourse ) .

In the finale , the trained dancer and the popular contestant who has come a long way compete face to face and more often than not , the popular candidate wins .

This year Shakti is the trained dancer but she is popular as she is the lead of the popular youth show D3 but she has competition from Ashish , KT , etc who are amazing actors and extremely popular and they may also improve a lot in the long run .

So my question here is JDJ is a popularity show or a dance show ?

Does it makes the best dancer win or the individual who was a non-dancer in the start but has come a long way with his/her hardwork ? Or its simply based on the popularity the contestant has ?

No offence to anyone . Anyone in for a healthy discussion is welcome :)

Regards ,
Mahi

Everyone knows yaar! It's a popularity show more than a dancing show. It's all about dirty politics in reality shows. We watch them for our favorite stars or simply for the art of dancing. The best thing is keep your expectations low and then you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the drama. :)

*Fingers crossed though that a deserving contestant wins.*

One answer It's a "Celebrity Dance Show" where public votes matter a lot... 😆 which means the result is bound to bend towards who is more popular rather than the true talent who might not be as popular as Mr/Miss Popular.

Disclaimer :
This is totally my view and i have no intension of hurting anybody. Just stating the fact.

This is the story of every reality show in India😆
If we keep the reasoning of channel politics aside , I really wish to know what do they try to prove
On one hand , the insult the dance of the trained dancers by entitling it as a DANCE reality show and on the other hand muddle with the emotions of the not so popular contestants who are non-dancers who came to prove their feat😆

Lets hope for the best !

I know what happens behind the scenes because my friend was a part of Dance India Dance. So I know exactly what dirty politics occur.

I respect your POV .
But then if the statement you mentioned is legit , why do they approach trained dancers like Shakti , Mouni and Andy?
They should fairly stick to the non-dancers right :)
I think its fair enough

It most definitely favors popular celebrities rather than the one who put out a good show. That being said, I'm only watching it because it's entertaining. I couldn't care less about who wins because everyone improves in each episode, and I get to see some truly terrific dance performances. And also, there's Madhuri Dixit. :D
