Although today's central characters were Rudra and his Maa-sa, the surprise package was the new and empowered Paro. She is no longer the gullible little village girl whom anyone could cheat. Rudra had told her a few days back both the truths- about his maasa and about Laila. And she has put this knowledge, the advance warning to good use in dealing will all the affected parties, emerging as close to a perfect diplomat as she possibly can.
1. Rudra-
The entirely unexpected arrival of his maasa has shocked and stunned him and he displays the usual fright and flight response. At that moment, Paro runs behind him because that's where her first loyalties lie. Rudra has managed to erect a barrier around himself to protect his feeling. But when Paro asks him, "Why dont you ask all those questions to your mother?" she manages to reach through that barrier to him. Rudra himself has confessed he's been running all his life- running away from problems and drowning them alcohol or mindless sex. By instigating a confrontation, Paro shows she is coming to understand her husband, her love. Yes, she lets him drive off alone. But she has got her point through before she did that and now he needs time to assimilate this, time alone. And he does just that, in his own way, however painful, he confronts his mother. And that's what Paro achieved there.
2.Maa-sa-
The 15yrs she spent away from Rudra, most of those she has spent being a mother figure to Paro. So Paro's response is instinctive- she hugs her. She bandages her and ensures her safety - by placing her in the BSD hospital. That is quite a development from the Paro who has welcomed Laila with a red carpet into her home. Ultimately Paro knows that if Rudra has to heal, he needs an explanation,a closure with his mother. So she gives her beloved Thakurainsa the comfort that she can by telling her she is married to her son, she will be there for him. And she tells her to give him time. And gives her the time that she too needs to recover from the rejection (well deserved, may be, yet) she just received from her son.
3. Laila-
Now this was cherry on the cake. The Paro talking to Laila today knows her place in Rudra's life and that's what distinguishes her from the Paro who made the mistake of welcoming Laila into her house. She puts Laila into her place- an unwelcome outsider. She knows the true face of Laila and has no hesitation to tell her off. My husband is hurting and he needs me. Problems in the family will be dealt by the family. Thanks for all the help, but your part ends here. No amount of screaming from Rudra would achieve what the calmly delivered words from Paro did. She ensures Laila is not around to poison the situation that is already in a sad state. Well done Paro.
It was this scene which answers why she did not go with Rudra when he asks her. He is running away and is justified in doing that too, considering the blow he has received. But someone has to clean up the mess, clean the wound, soothe the hurt and make sure all heals. Paro ensures this and will continue the same till the whole issue is resolved.
I confess I doubted Paro. Wondered how she will deal with this catch 22 situation where anything she says or does will be interpreted wrongly. Frankly I did not have much hopes either and came prepared to see some Paro bashing. But this Paro has left me surprised with her perfect control over the situation, her courage in dealing with it all. This is the character development that should happen. She learns from the past mistakes, adapts to the situation and despite her inexperience takes charge when its needed of her. Well done CVs.👏
The post would be incomplete without saying what a brilliant performance all the actors delivered today- Ashish, Sanaya and Sadiya... 👏
EDIT: (Thanks JJKKL)
4. Dilsher- Paro did not have the opportunity to really help him but her mere presence is a great deal for him. He fears for his son, how he will deal with this development, how he will lash out and he is held down but that how much ever he wishes he is not the person to deal with it. Here, the fact that Paro is with his son is a great consolation for this man, who has his own demons. And his implicit trust in Paro, when he urges her to stay with him just shows that.
