Good topic. If one is able to judge the pulse of a good advisor, it can save someone much heartache later. I feel its good to seek advice from people who are wise and have had the experience. The hard part is deciding which advice to follow. Ultimately one has to decide for oneself only the path to follow.😛 One's intiuation in the end is sometimes the best guide.

yup👏..Good to see you here my laughter-gas-struck-friend..😃

i think it's fine to take into account advice from different quarters, maybe even act on one. but dont go around changing horses mid-stream, unless of course you're acting on advice to drown. 😛 😊

Good topic Anshu,
Your topic subject reads "Does Advise matter" and then you gave an instance...
I assume that your instance was just a case in point to exemplify the topic and not meant to limit the debate to discuss advises regarding "change of profession" only! 😛 ...With that assumption...

You got it, Right!! Bro, how did I miss this response😊

Advises are great and are always welcome. Not taking advises from other presumes that one considers himself/herself a perfect homo sapien who is able to utilize 100% of his/her brain. An average homo sapien is not able to utilize more than 2% of the total brain through the lifetime (I am told)....I interpret that as availability of the room to be filled by others' advises.

Am hearing this arguement for the first time👏, it makes sense lols if thats true, will goog after responding orelse edit😆

In other words, since you cannot think of all possibilities, let others chime in.

Having said that, personally I listen to all but in the end, I trust my own instinct and knowledge to make a decision. Also, some people's advises weigh more than others. As an example, if the advise comes from my mother, then it takes an altogether different meaning because that advise, I know for sure, is selfless....if not the best... 😛...So there are several factors which govern, how far the advises effect my decision making such as dependability, knowledgebase, relevance to the situation, trustworthiness....to name a few.. 😊

Well said!!👏👏

You and me both. When I lived at home, my dad used to say to me, "Lend an ear to what everyone has to say, pay attention to the advise that they all have to give, but ultimately make the decision that YOU think is the right one". I treat advise as extra nuggets of information that I may not previously have known about, but beyond that I don't let it influence my actions (somedays, it's easier said than done...but I do try!)

i think its important to listen to what others have to say........this gives you some valuable information or insight that you might not have considered otherwise. then its up to me to take that advise and do what i feel is right for me.
