Siddhant Agarwal who is seen playing the crazy and supportive brother Pakhya in Zee TV's Ek Mutthi Asmaan, gets candid with TheTellyTimes on life and more
Tell us a bit about your self?
I am basically a Delhi boy, born and brought up over there. I had never been to Bombay until July 2013. Apparently I was in the same school as Shah Rukh Khan, which is St.Columba's School (1984 batch) and the same University called University of Delhi, and co-incidentally I did B.A.Hons (Economics) same as Shah Rukh Khan.
I'm into alot of sports and outdoor activities .
How did you end up in Ek Mutthi Aasmaan?
In my first round of audition for Pakya, I could'nt complete my dialogues and everything, as I could not say Hindi with a Marathi dialect, as I'm from Delhi, so I was a bit clumsy while saying my lines. So I left it and went away, seeking for other options. I again got a call from the casting people, this time they had modified it to Just Hindi with a little punch of Marathi tone, which I managed. Then there was no looking back after mock shoots and look tests.
How has the experience been so far with the cast and crew?
This being my first work, I was just so nervous and out of place on my first day of shoot. I was actually thinking after pack up on my first day, am I actually made to do this? There were weird weird thoughts and questions coming in my mind. But with time, I started off with episode 62 after the leap and now soon we are completing 200 episodes. I have learned a lot about acting and it's spheres and definetly alot about life and people.
It was really wonderful and pleasure working with all the directors, DOPs and other crew members for having patience with me and being calm whenever I goofed up at shot or anything else.
A big thank you to the channel and my producers Tony ji and Deeya ji for having faith in me now, that yes I can pull it off, my writers who have given me such beautiful scenes through which I can get a smile on my audience.
The cast is superb, they are such wonderful people, they make you feel like family. I get so much of positive vibes working with all of them.
I have learnt alot from Mohit ji (Vitthal), he has the biggest hand in polishing Pakya. Shilpa ji for always cheering me up and motivating me whenever I need that booster. Shirina (Paakhi) for having the patience to bear those retakes in the dance sequel because of me. Rachana (Kalpi) for giving me confidence, that yes I can do it.
Ishaan, Ashish Chowdhry, Ashish Nayar, Neeraj, dadi, Tuhina, all of them are such great people. I get to learn alot from them .
Your best friend from the sets of Ek Mutthi Aasmaan?
I am the closest to Mohit ji, Shilpa ji and Ishaan. They understand me totally and know me. They have all the rights to scold me when I'm at fault. They make me feel at ease n comfortable .
How has your journey been so far in the industry?
See my journey has just started, I haven't seen much, but due to few Maha Sangams where I've participated, I've had the opportunity to work with Alok Nath ji, Mohit Malik and my dearest buddy Roopal Tyagi. I need to explore a lot over here and work with different people. The journey has been highly entertaining, as I myself didn't know I could do all these scenes which I've performed till date.
Who is your inspiration/role model?
Shah Rukh Khan. What a fantastic man he is. He is an all rounder. Look at him, from where he came and what he has become, it's something unbelievable and to think about.
Salute to the kind of work he has done, fantastic energy level at all times even after working for 18 hrs, too good.
The type of role you wish to play in the future?
I would love to play something like what Saif Ali Khan played in Hum Tum, Shah Rukh Khan's role in Chak De India, John Abraham's role in Force. Thus, I want to do all kinds of work, all genres.
At the end message for your fans?
Fans are really sweet who have a huge hand in building all of us, if they weren't there, we would never have been there, there would be no Trps, no Facebook, no Twitter, nothing at all.
I really love all of them and thank all of them from the bottom of my heart for both appreciating and criticising my work. I take all of it in a positive way. Each and every fan is important for me.
JHAKKKAAAS N BINDAAAS HAI MERE FANS (Pakya eeesshhtyle mai)
