And no goris are not the one with double standards...we are...Would u want a man model for lingerie? No u wouldn't because they don't fit the part...

Just like I wouldn't want to see a white person play a brown character because to me, I don't think they fit the part, when I know there are 79889797 brown people out there who are probably struggling to be in the industry, who can most likely speak the languages better and their voices wouldn't have to be dubbed, and yes they'd probably look more convincing as an Indian than an Amy or an Elli.

I don't get your logic, why do you think it is okay to let someone who has no connection to the Indian subcontinent represent people of that subcontinent on celluloid? Just because they can "look the part"?

Whatever, I am out.

But the situation goes in deeper level. The nature of dancers job is they need to look fit , with beautiful figure , and shouldn't have problem in shedding cloths. Which mostly indians dont like , our culture dosnt permit it . But still these days even our women are will to shed cloths to minimum level like westerners. Coz there is cut throught compatition , earlier in 90s the back ground dancers used to look fat , out of shape , obese . Its due to compatition the standards of back ground dancers have increased , even our dancers have to pull up there socks to look fit. And just not in bollywood in every feild till there isnt compatition , there isnt improvement of quality. Like indian roads , if a western company is apointed we will have better roads , and even our domestic companies will have to pull up there socks and get ready to compete. Raisism is everywere . And black calling whites names isnt acceptable like how whites calling balacks names . Both are wrong .

If you are saying these white background dancers are only in songs where they are clothed minimally, it is not true at all. There are plenty of songs, which are supposed to be set in India but have white female dancers and dressed in outfits that show the same amount of skin Indian dancers do and have shown. Dressed in Indian lenghas and all--even though it's set in India. There is no lack of Indian background dancers now, as one can see from the songs which do feature them.

Thats now , earlier they were not ready to shed cloths . Now in order to survive the compatition they are willing to do anything. Things were different back in 90 - 80 . And anyways its producers choice according to law you cant stop anybody from working in india . If they have work permit , they can work. Same goes for all the indians who work abroad , if they have work permit , they can work there.

There are more with indian origin actors

Indian origin actors are also British, American, etc. People aren't complaining of Indian white actors, nor are they complaining of white actors from abroad playing roles. What people are complaining of are white actors from abroad being taken to play Indian characters, not being able to act in the language, dubbing their way through and looking out of place. (One thing I give Katrina, she doesn't really look out of place. Even the times she couldn't dance. Unlike Giselle who in LAK as soon as she started dancing stood out like a sore thumb).

(By the way, some of those films are not Hollywood per se, but from other countries which got wide Hollywood distribution)

And since Dev Patel's Airbender came up. A film that white washed its cast using white actors for East Asians, and brown washed the antagonists.

How is it racism(wrt work) if they are getting preferential treatment and roles cos of their skin and eye color over the indigenous ppl who have darker skin tone and eye color? If you mean criticizing comments on some random website online(which happens to all actors not just foreigners), how does it matter, as long as they have work. They aren't being refused jobs cos of them being Caucasians. There is a huge market for light skinned ppl and good for them if Caucasians are exploiting that market. No harm in earning some bread and butter,if they don't mind being item girls and being leeched at by Indian audience.Other than being item girls, I don't think any Caucasian has excelled in acting or really appreciated for their acting talent by Indian audience.
