Priyani Vani gets another chance-article

A special concession has been made for contestant Priyani Vani, who was ousted from Voice of India (Star) on Saturday courtesy a spat between judges Alka Yagnik and Abhijeet.

Priyani has been given another chance to make a mark. While Abhijeet was all for Priyani, Alka did not think too highly of her. Subsequently, Jatin and Lalit too did not stand up for Priyani. Result? Priyani found herself out of the show.

When contacted, Abhijeet sounded very disturbed. He said, "Alka, Jatin and Lalit committed a blunder. Priyani is very talented.

That day, she sang Tumhari Adaon Pe Mein Vari Vari (Mangal Pandey: The Rising) and she was super. I have spoken to Gajendra Singh (producer) and we are going to give Priyani another chance. Her ouster is not fair."

Wrong approach?

Justifying his opinion on Priyani, Abhijeet said, "We are conducting the auditions in front of 8,000 people. There is a lot of noise and sometimes it is difficult to judge.

I think this is what happened with Alka, Jatin and Lalit. Interestingly, there's quite a similar situation happening with me. There is a contestant called Bhola, who I am not too happy about. He has been chosen but I don't think he is very good."

Alka sounded cool about the incident and said she wasn't impressed with Priyani. "She was good, but she has a lot of scope for improvement. That's exactly what I told her."

Alka added that Priyani should change her attitude. "She told us that she knew she had sung very well. Even today, I don't say I have sung very well. There is room for improvement all the time.

That's how we should approach every job. Priyani later came to us and said she had said that in a moment of frustration. Anyway, we are giving her another hearing very soon along with three or four other contestants whom we feel have it in them to make it big. Let's see what happens."
'I'm the best'

Meanwhile, Priyani said she wasn't sure why she was eliminated that day. "I think I was the best that day.

I had worked very hard on the song and exceeded expectations. Alkaji was explaining that I needed to do better.

At that instant, Abhijeetji interrupted her and took my side. It became an unnecessary issue. It will be great to get another chance. I am happy."

This is not the first time that Abhijeet and Alka have had a pow-wow that has led to confusion and pandemonium.
