Kunal Kohli's first production starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherji will roll by the end of 2007. This will mark the beginning of Kohli's efforts to set up his own production house. The film, yet untitled, will be produced and directed by him. Kunal, post Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002), Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006), which were all produced under the Yash Raj banner, has become a producer with his Saif-Rani starrer.
When asked when is he planning to begin shooting, he said, "I am currently involved with the preproduction planning. I will start shooting for the film in October." His four-year long relationship with Yash Raj Films too will continue with this film. Kohli explains, "I will direct and produce my own films. Yash Raj will present, distribute and market them for me."
Rani's work too was highly appreciated in Hum Tum and Saif had won a National Award under Kunal's direction for the same film. In fact, after Saif recovered from his heart ailments, Kunal's was the first film he signed. Kunal is looking forward to releasing the film next year. However, he is reluctant to divulge any further details about the story and shooting locales. "If I tell you everything now, what will I tell you when my film is ready for release?" he justifies.
