Previously on Vansh Katha
Former businesswoman Anuradha Rao is sentenced to die after 20 years of imprisonment. She meets her son Vansh for the last time and tells him that she is innocent. Anuradha is hanged and Vansh falls unconscious in the middle of the road and wakes up in an unknown house.
Vansh Katha - Episode Two
Vansh was in a state of shock but he didn't want to question the man who was standing at the door, then again, who were these people and why had they brought him here?
Vansh: I'm sorry who did you say wanted to see me?
Guard: Boss wants to see you now.
Vansh: And who is your boss?
Guard: You'll know once you come downstairs with me.
Whether he liked it or not, the only way he was going to get out of this place was by going downstairs so he followed the guard as he took him to a great hall. Once inside the hall Vansh gazed around at how large the place was. There were four guards standing around a glass table and behind it was a leather chair facing the other direction. From behind the chair came a woman's voice.
Voice: So, you're Vansh Rao?
Vansh hesitated a bit but decided to be bold and ask a question of his own.
Vansh: Who wants to know?
There was a slight laugh that came out of from behind the chair and then it swung around to face him. On the chair, sat a beautiful middle-aged woman who Vansh estimated to be about his mother's age. She was dressed in a black sari and looked rather striking in it. She answered Vansh without getting up.
Woman: My name is Devyani Seth and your mother was a good friend of mine.
Suddenly, Vansh's mind flashed to his meeting with his mother where she told him that her friend would find him.
Vansh: So you're the one she was telling me about?
Devyani: That would be me. She told me that she would be meeting with you one last time before they…
Everyone went silent for a moment.
Devyani: Anyway, what's happened has happened and now it's time to move on. It was your mother's wish that you take over her empire once she died and that is exactly what I shall help you do. Moreover she wanted you to fight for justice and make sure that the real murderers were punished and…
Vansh: I want to do more than just give her justice. I want revenge. I want them to suffer like she suffered and I want them to pay for what they did in spades! But to do all of this I need to know exactly what happened 20 years ago and she told me that you would reveal everything to me.
Devyani: Very well.
Devyani signaled for the guards to leave the room and finally she and Vansh were all alone. She motioned for him to sit on a couch that was near her table and she sat down next to him. Devyani then began her story.
Devyani: 20 years ago you were just four years old and no one in your family knew that you had even been born because Anuradha had you out of wedlock. She had placed you in the care of a good friend living in New Zealand, where you spent your childhood. Your mother would visit you from time to time and she kept this secret to herself for a long time. During this time she was romantically involved with Sidharth Singhania and the two of them even planned on getting married. Sidharth then introduced Anuradha to Shlok Singhania who was his older brother. Together, Sidharth and Anuradha told Shlok about you and how Sidharth was going to take on your responsibility. Shlok didn't have a problem with this at all but he wanted Anuradha to tell him who your father was.
No one knew why it was important that Anu keep this thing to herself but she refused to tell anyone the truth of your paternity and Shlok was naturally mad about it since he had given his approval to the marriage in the first place. Time went on and it seemed as though Shlok would never come around and finally Sidharth told Anuradha that his brother was a money maniac and if Anuradha could show Shlok the total value of her business empire then maybe he would stop pressuring her about the truth of your paternity and agree to the marriage. Anu was skeptical about this and Sidharth went on to pressure her by saying that if Shlok knew Anuradha would let Sidharth handle the business after the marriage that he would marry them off the very next day.
Anu was still thinking about this but in the meantime she wanted her family to know about you so she flew you down from New Zealand to meet your uncle and aunt, Sumeet and Vineeta. During this time Shlok's wife – the renowned author Vidhya Chopra – was publishing her latest book. Anuradha didn't go to the book launch because she thought Shlok wouldn't like to see her there. However, after the event was over and Shlok was getting ready to go home, he happened to see Sidharth holding another woman in his arms in his car before the two of them drove off.
Shlok summoned your mother and questioned her relationship with his brother and Anu claimed that she was very serious about Sidharth and even wanted him to handle her company after they got married because she wanted to be a stay at home mother. Shlok told Anuradha that she was making a big mistake and she thought he was trying to discourage her from marrying Sidharth. So she had a huge argument with Shlok and threw in his face the fact that he was a money maniac and even his brother said so. On hearing this Shlok went on to realize that Sidharth was playing a bad game with Anuradha, he realized that Sid was marrying Anu only for her money and he was using Shlok as a means to have his way. Anuradha was outraged that Shlok would even suggest such a thing and then threatened to kill him if he came between her and Sidharth. This deadly comment was overheard by Shlok's wife Vidhya and she warned Shlok to be wary of Anu. From Shlok's place, Anu went straight to her lawyer and asked that he transfer the entire company and all of its profits and assets to her son's name. She then called Sidharth and told him that Shlok will have what he wants because she has transferred everything she has to the name of the man she loves the most.
That night Anuradha received a call from Vidhay asking her to come to their house because Shlok wanted to apologize to her and sort things out in a decent way. Being the person that she was, Anu was ready to put everything aside and mend fences with her future brother-in-law so she went to his house. She had barely walked in when she saw someone pointing a gun at Shlok. She tried to run to his assistance but the gun went off and Shlok was shot. The real shooter made an escape and Vidhya came running in to see Anuradha standing over Shlok's dead body. Vidhya screamed murder and called the police who arrested your mother and took her to jail.
The prosecution lawyer Charith Patel brought in many pieces of evidence into the courtroom that were all false. He accused Anuradha of killing Shlok in cold blood and Vidhya testified to the fact that Anuradha first threatened and then killed her husband. Anuradha turned to Sidharth for support but he in turn refused to help her saying that he never believed she could do something like this. She was thrown in jail while the case was thrown from pillar to post and while she was in jail she requested that she get to see you, she wanted to see how you were doing and how you were growing up. But then came the orders of Police Commissioner Kedarnath Gupta to say that Anuradha would have no visitors whatsoever and she will never be able to see her son.
Soon after she was sentenced to life in prison pending a final decision since the court was still uncertain on what do to with her, Sidharth went to claim his right on her empire. It was then that he realized that the man Anuradha loved more than anything else in the world was her son Vansh. Not long after, Sidharth married a woman by the name of Poornima, the same woman Shlok had spotted with him a few months back.
Life in prison for Anuradha was made hell and she later found out that all this torture was courtesy of the Commissioner Kedarnath Gupta. Then the horrible plan unfolded before Anuradha like a devastating nightmare. The real story was that Sidharth had always intended on marrying Poornima but he wanted Anu's money so he put the entire blame on his brother Shlok. He made sure that there was friction between Shlok and Anu and then he waited for her to tell him that she had given him everything until he went through with the final part of his plan. What was shocking though was that Vidhya Chopra, Shlok's own wife, was part of this scheme. What did she get out of it? Well Sidharth and Poornima would get Anuradha's money and when Shlok was dead Vidhay would get his money. So they conspired to kill two birds with one stone. Even the lawyer, Charith Patel was hired to ensure Anu was thrown in jail and the final player of the game was Kedarnath Gupta who took bribes in order to torture Anuradha so that she would reveal where her son was.
You may not know this Vansh but I'm somewhat of a mafia queen and it was because of drug scandal I was involved in that I was thrown in jail. This is where I met your mother and this is where she told me her story. Ironically enough the prosecution lawyer on my case too was Charith Patel and even though I was charged with that particular crime I never did anything wrong, the drugs belonged to Kedarnath Gupta. Your mother and I had common purpose against these people but she had been wronged far more than me. She then instructed me to her lawyers and to your whereabouts after I was released and I promised her that I would take care of your every need.
We decided to keep the company's existence a secret from your uncle and aunt fearing that Vineeta might stake her claims to it on account of being your guardian. So I took over the company and carried it through like it was my own.
Devyani was finally done with her story and Vansh felt as though he had lived that history lesson with his mother all the way. There was so much he wanted to do right then and there but his head was heavy with so many other questions.
But over all of that, five names kept flashing in his head. Charith Patel, Vidhay Chopra, Kedarnath Gupta, Poornima Singhania and Sidharth Singhania. Vansh wanted revenge on all of them. At that moment he didn't know how but he knew he wanted it.
