A highly placed source at the suburban hospital close to his home informed us that Amitabh visits the specialist once every month without fail for his check-up. "Amitabh comes calling at least once every month and his reports suggest that he is suffering from an intestinal ailment that could be cancerous," informed our source.
Fortunately, the alleged disease was detected in its early stages and treatment for the same is believed to be on, as per the source.
We got in touch with the specialist Dr Jayant S Barve (father of fashion designer Nachiket Barve) who has treated Amitabh in the past and is considered to be extremely close to the Bachchan family. When asked if Amitabh is indeed suffering from intestinal cancer, the medical man shot back asking, "Who says this?' When we informed him that we had received the information from highly placed credible sources within the hospital that Amitabh visits, the doctor responded. "You should check with Mr. Bachchan about it." Dr Barve, who is well versed with medical ethics and patient confidentiality, further refused to confirm or deny if the information was true or false. "Why don't you check with Mr. Bachchan?" was the doctor's terse response.
The legendary actor's perennial abdominal problems have been well documented. The megastar has undergone multiple surgeries post the age-old near fatal intestinal injury that he suffered while shooting for Coolie. The last time Big B underwent an intestinal related surgery was way back in 2005 when doctors operated the star for a medical condition known as diverticulitis. Post that the superstar has only moved from strength to strength save for a minor medical complication for which he was treated in 2012.
It's also pertinent to note that age has shown no signs of slowing down India's towering cinematic legend. The ever energetic actor continues to shoot tirelessly for films, ads and makes an appearance at a plethora of events without fail and bang on time, as is his habit. Even as we write this story, Big B is busy attending the Indian Film Festival Melbourne (IFFM) in Australia.
So assuming without admitting that Big B is indeed allegedly suffering from the early stages of cancer, the strength and vigour he has displayed only points out to the fact that the actor has conquered the alleged disease, if there was any in the first place. And this can be a source of inspiration for lakhs of others suffering from various ailments
We tried getting in touch with Mr Bachchan and his secretary Rosy but both remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
