She left a positive impact on the minds of many in one of last year's biggest Blockbusters KRRISH 3. She took the multiplex audience in India by a storm with her last film QUEEN, one of the best trending and most appreciated films in recent times at the box office.
Yes, I'm talking about Kangana Ranaut who returns on-screen this Friday! But this time, she's doing a more extreme role that combines violence with sexuality. The violence is there as the name of the film itself suggests. The sexuality is there too as apparently there is a scene in the film where Kangana kisses Vir Das so hard that his lip starts to bleed!
Whereas she managed to please the multiplex audience with QUEEN, it seems as if Kangana is looking to please the single screen audience this time with REVOLVER RANI. The masses may dig the film's content, sure, but the family audience will stay away from this film due to the use of violence and love-making scenes. The families come out more so on the weekends to watch films, and their lack of support for this film will cause some harm to the film in the opening weekend. As we all know, the opening weekend is crucial for films in today's time as it is make-or-break usually for the lifetime run of many films.
The opening of the film may be decent at multiplexes due to Kangana coming from the success of QUEEN, but opening at single screens/mass dominates areas will be poor. Things could go reverse though over the lifetime run of the film: the masses may start coming to watch the film (if it has good WOM with the masses), while collections at multiplexes will likely drop due to the massy nature of the film not suited for the class audience.
My Box office Predictions for REVOLVER RANI:
Opening day: 2.5 crores net
Opening Weekend: approx 10 crores net
