Spent many nights getting over pain
Priyanka Chopra tells us why Bonnie Raitt's song, which she has recorded recently, is special for her; also talks about her upcoming projects

She's made a name for herself as a singer, with her past singles topping popularity charts. And now, Priyanka Chopra has reprised Bonnie Raitt's 1991 number, I can't make you love me'. About the song, she says, "It is an old song which many other singers have tried before and I hope I have done a good job. This song is special to me as it helped me get over many teenage heartbreaks. I have spent many nights getting over my pain with this song."
And singing isn't the only thing keeping Priyanka busy. She's also excited about performing at the IIFA awards as her family is coming to watch her on stage. "There are nearly 25 of them who will witness the extravaganza," says the actor, who is busy losing muscle as she prepares for Zoya Akthar's next, that she will start shooting in 10 days. She is also looking forward to the masterclass with Kevin Spacey at the film event. "We will be talking about the style of working here (Bollywood) and there (Hollywood)," she says.
Priyanka is also part of an international campaign that supports girls' education, starring alongside the likes of Salma Hayek, Anne Hathaway, Selena Gomez and Freida Pinto, in a film called Girl Rising. "We are going to make an India chapter too, and I am hoping to get all the top actresses to take this cause forward. I am going to beg and plead with everyone. The more popular the actress, the wider the film's reach. Ultimately, whoever agrees to join the cause is welcome," says Priyanka. Meanwhile, the actor could not cast her vote in the general elections and she's quite upset about it. "The dates for voting were announced a few weeks ago while IIFA was locked six months back. My family had voted during the last elections, but this year I unfortunately couldn't. I champion voting and tell people to be responsible and cast their ballot, but when there are some commitments like IIFA which are legal, one can't avoid them. I was feeling horrible that I couldn't vote," she says.
