It will be related to Bulbul maybe. LIke he comes for a cultural event when she is clearly not interested. Bulbul takes her with her to met Abhi. And Abhi will be surprised because Pragya is the first girl who is not interested in him.

I agree that the situation when both of them first meet might be somewhat like that where bulbul forces Pragya to go with her and there Abhi will be shocked to meet the first girl who is not deewani over him and that wil be the start of a love/hate story

He saves her from getting drowned. He thinks she is trying to get his attention by doing something drastic (he does have a huge ego so natural for him to think she was trying to attract his attention by walking into the waters). His words are sarcastic perhaps? He will end that dialogue with "this is what you were hoping I would say, lo, I have said it, now go home"
My guess :)
