Guys,

Lately I have not seen any constructive and bold steps taken by Dr Sid. He has been around in most of the episode but has hardly did anything creative. His presence did not make any difference to the story. 😕

What do you'll think?

I think he is just the guy who is Astha's friend and who loves Sia. Other than that, I don't see any importance in his character.

I agree completely. In fact, in this whole thing, even if one takes out Sid, with a slight change here and there, there won't be that much of a difference to the story. Somehow, personally, I have never really liked Sid as much.He seems a poor shadow of his very strong and resiliant dad. Nor do I understand why should he be angry with his dad. As a grown up today, he should clearly be able to see that Dr Manas was an excellent father, who took care of him all alone when his mother did not care a hoot for him, and that how much pain his mom's actions cud have caused to him, and that all said and done, Dr Manas had a right to happiness in his own terms and Ria did make him happy.

Now, I understand his love for Simran goes back a long way and he is attactched to her. But he spent a better part of his life in US and then studying to be a doc, which one wud think shud make his quite mature in age, so why does he behave like a chicken when Astha is around, and doing everything to please Simran Aunty looks so awfully weird !!!!

Sid as a character definitely does not hold much charm. I would choose his no nonsense dad any day.

I agree with you for the most part except for this. True he has been a good dad when Urmi was having an affair with Ashwin. However I do not believe that Urmi was a bad mom. She was not a good wife (in fact Manas was not a good husband either, who gave too much importance to Simran in many ways but that's beside the point). Urmi always doted on her son and was always trying to spend quality time with him, even while she was with Ashwin. However, it was Manas who used to prevent her from seeing her so saying Ashwin was having a bad influence.. Agreed. But what did he do after that? Once Ria entered his life, Sonu took a back seat (Maybe unintentionally). And he was actually flaunting his live in relationship with Ria right under his young son's nose and tried to force him to accept Ria - exactly the reason why he did not want Sonu to visit Urmila initially! He would spend the day at work and nights running after Ria. And then without even consulting with Urmi or his son, he decided to move to the US separating mom and son.. The situation would have been different had Sonu not loved his mom, but he doted on his mom no end and Manas knew that but he was too blinded for his love/lust for Ria to think otherwise.. I loved the character of Manas before this but I lost my respect for him the way he behaved once Ria entered his life. I to be frank am not surprised Sonu has returned to be with his mom who he had pined for all these years, after all he was separated forcefully from his mom. Can't forget the jail scene, I had tears in my eyes when I saw Sonus' and Urmila's acting. Let me add that I do not condone Urmila's affair, that was wrong but here we are talking of her as a mom. I think both Urmila and Manas are to blame fro the unsuccessful marriage but I also agree that Urmila could have handled it differently. But did he not keep saying that he wanted to help Urmila in jail because she was Sonu's mom?? Then why take away her rights as a mom by moving so far away for 14-18 years without so much as discussing with her.

hmnnn...yes you do have a point. I agree perhaps being separated from his mom in that forceful manner did not really help Sonu think objectively....

Once Urmilla realised her folly, she tried her level best to rectify herself. That is not to say that Dr Manas should have accepted her back in his life, but yes, separating Sonu in that way was very very wrong, and perhaps one would have expected a little better from someone like Dr Manas, who was a pediatrician, and could definitely handled the situation in a refined way rather than wrenching Sonu away from his mom and forcing Ria into his life..........

Though other than this, everything else that I said about Sonu still baffles me and inspite of everything, Sid as a character looks weak....

I agree, I found Sonu's character stronger when he was a child. LOL! And you know, we have had many discussions on Manas and Urmila and Sonu and hence that was quite fresh on my mind when I brought up the points:-) I think part of Sid's doting on Simran is because she has done a lot for him and Urmila before and after the leap. I don't know how easy it is to forgive someone who was so nasty to Simran for quite a long time, though I agree she had changed.

I read somewhere that Manas and Urmila actually reunite in the end. Yet to be seen and I look at it this way, if Simran accepted Abhi, then why not Manas? For a change it will be a man being magnanimous enough:-) !

You are right, the very reason I was disappointed at Manas's chavinism post Ria's entry is that it was so unlike him to be that way. The stolid, sensible, reliable Manas behaving irresponsibly is not something one could accept easily.

I would also like to add to my above post that I was very surprised to see the change of character the director brought about in Manas. We know that is common in serials but I have to say that I was disappointed to see the stolid, responsible Manas become so easily influenced by Ria..He was the same person who had refused flat to move to the US when Urmila wanted him to because he wanted to serve the country. I wonder how some basic principles change when people are under other's infleunce..
