We will never know and the writers will never bother to explain it because as i have seen Indian viewers don't demand this of their writers...they will come up with their own ideas. Now do not get me wrong here; it is GREAT that everyone comes up with some ideas, but it is still the responsibilities of the writers to explain to the viewer WHAT happened...
What will happen is these characters will be written off and you, as a viewer, will be lucky if they even bother to explain what happened. Other viewers on this forum will complain that this is not an issue and that you should just sit back and watch the show...which is great, but it does not make for a full viewing when so many gaps exist...it's a sign of poor writing and production.
