CHAPTER 70 (A). LUCKNOW OUTING PART I

Place - Sheeshmahal

Day - 3 Sunday continued

Geet smiled as she toweled her hair dry. Hey Babaji! Kitni pyaari shuruvaat hui is din ki! She grinned as she remembered Maan running behind her with hose pipe in his hand. She blushed as she was reminded of his stare as they stood under the water showering from the hose pipe. Hey Babaji! Shaadi ke baad bhi hum dono ki zindagi aise hi hasi mazaak mein kate! Aur humaari zindagi mein aisi hi khushiyaan barasti rahe! She giggled as she started daydreaming about her marriage, her future with her Maan.

Geet was lost in her Maan when a knock brought her out of her thoughts. She looked at the door of her room in confusion. Is waqt kaun hai? She looked at the wall clock in her room. It was barely 9 in the morning. Abhi toh aadhe ghante pehle hum sab neeche paani mein khel rahe the! Itne jaldi kaun bulaane aagaya? Aaj naashta jaldi lag gaya kya? She walked towards the door and opened it only to see a worried Anjali biting her nails and nervously looking around. "AD?", Geet called her making Anjali aware of the door opening. She looked up in surprise and worry and the moment she saw her baby sister, a strange expression of calmness entered her face. She grabbed Geet's hand and dragged her in. She closed the door of the room making Geet look at her alarmed. Yeh AD itni pareshaan kyun hai? Kahin kisi ko kuch hua toh nahi? She bit her lip worriedly as her elder sister dragged her to the bed and sat on it. Geet sat beside her.

"Kya hua AD?", Geet spoke up.

Anjali looked at her in worry, "Baby... woh mujhe..." but could not say anymore.

Geet smiled at her sister in assuring way, "Boliye na AD! Baat kya hai?"

Anjali took a deep breath, "Tumhein Chote ko kuch der ke liye ghar se baahar leke jaana hoga!"

Geet looked at her in confusion, "Kya? Par kyun? Aur main kaise..."

Anjali shook her head, "Humein kuch nahi pata! Chote ke baad is ghar mein tumhaara hi sabse jyaada shaatir dimaag hai! Ab tumhe hi humaari madat karni hogi!"

Geet bit her lip and then nodded, "Theek hai AD! Main kuch soch loongi!"

Anjali heaved a sigh of relief.

Geet frowned, "Par aap kyun AB ko baahar bhagaana chaahte hain? Mere AB ne aisa kya gunaah kiya hai?"

Anjali shook her head, "Aisi koi baat nahi hai! Bas..." Anjali looked away in distress.

Geet felt sad for her sister. It seemed something major had happened. "Di! Kuch toh bolo ki problem kya hai?"

Anjali looked at her pensively and after a while spoke up, "Humaare Chachaji aa rahe hain humse milne! Abhi phone aaya tha! Ghar ke badon ko hum abhi bataa kar aaye hain! Dekho Baby! Hum nahi chaahte ki Chote unse mile!"

Geet frowned in confusion and was about to ask why Anjali did not want Arnav to meet their Chachaji when it struck her and her eyes widened. Arnav's paternal relatives had thrown Anjali and Arnav out of Sheeshmahal the moment their parents died. She looked at her sister in horror who nodded.

Geet stood up in anger and she glared at Anjali, "Why are you entertaining that person who abandoned you when you needed him the most?" Geet glared at her sister and for one second Anjali was taken aback as Geet reminded her of Arnav. She took a deep breath and explained, "Aur koi option nahi hai! Unhonein call kiya aur kahaa ki unhein pata chala hai ki hum sab yahaan hai aur woh hum sab se milna chaahte hain. Aur hum manaa nahi..."

"Bas Di! Aapki issi achchaai ki wajah se un sab ne aapko ghar se baahar nikaala tha us waqt! Us insaan ko toh is ghar se dhakke maarke nikaalna chaahiye aur aap hai ki unka swagat kar rahi hai Di! Bas yahi hai aapka swaabhimaan?"

"GEET!"

"Aap mujhpe kyun chilla rahi hain Di! Maine kya galat kahaa hai! Agar is waqt Brij Veerji yahaan aakar mujhse milne ki baat karte toh kya aap unhein aane deti? Kya aap mujhe rokti nahi unse milne se? Jo sawaal main aaj aapse pooch rahi hoon kya wahi sawaal aap mujhse poochti nahi?"

There was silence for few moments as Anjali could not answer Geet's question without proving herself as weak. After few minutes of silence, Anjali spoke, "Yeh sab baatein humein nahi pata! Humein bas itna pata hai ki aapko 10 bajne se pehle Chote ko kisi bhi bahaane se iss ghar se baahar le jaana hoga aur jitni der tak ho sake unhein baahar rukaana hoga! Aur saath mein Chutke aur Maan ko bhi le jaayiye! Hum, Shyamji aur ghar ke baaki bade, Chachaji ko sambhaal lenge! Aapko humaari kasam hai! Aapko itna toh humaare liye karna hi hoga!" Anjali looked at Geet pensively and after a while Geet nodded but her anger refused to go. Anjali walked out of the room while Geet started thinking of a strategy to get Maan, Arnav and Aakash out of the house! Soon, Geet had an idea in her head and she smiled grimly.

Anjali nervously paced the hall. She wanted her brothers and her best friend out of the house as soon as possible! If Arnav stayed when Chachaji arrived, Arnav would loose the entire good mood he gained early morning. And if Arnav went but others stayed behind someone will inform Arnav about Chachaji's arrival! And while she can get Dev and Arjun to remain quiet and not inform others about it, Maan and Aakash would definitely call Arnav and Arnav would come back home storming in anger. No! Maan and Aakash were Arnav's biggest support and they had to go out of the house with Arnav. She will make sure Paayal went with them too as an incentive for Aakash to go with Arnav and Geet. And as for Maan, she will just force him to go as Maan can never say no to her! Shyam worriedly looked on as he sat in a chair nearby while Naaniji, Daadima, Maama and Maami sat in sofa a bit far off waiting for Geet's plan to take off so that they can all heave a sigh of relief. None of the elders wanted Arnav at home during the Chachaji's arrival and they had urged Anjali to get Geet's help as after Arnav, she was the one with out of box ideas and the only one who could help them without informing Arnav!

"NAHI! NAHI! NAHI! Mujhe aur kuch nahi sunna Veere! Mujhe woh mela dekhne jaana hai! And that's it!", Geet came storming into the hall. Anjali watched in surprise as Geet was followed by pleading Aakash, "Dekho Geetto! Aise kaise hum sab jaa sakte hain! Shaadi ka ghar hai! Mehmaan aa rahe hain! We cannot go!" Both halted in front of Anjali and Geet folded her arms against her chest and pouted, "I don't care! Mujhe jaana hai matlab jaana hai!"

Geet's plan to get Arnav, Aakash and Maan out of the house was quite simple. She had heard that there was a mela near Hazratganj and she decided to take the three men of the family to visit it making sure that the three men were not in vicinity of the house when the Chachaji arrived.

Anjali worriedly spoke up, "Arre! Baat kya hai? Kyun jhagad rahe ho tum dono?" By then, Maan, Arnav, Paayal, Khushi, Lavanya, NK, Annie, Arjun, Dev and NT had all come down, some for breakfast and some to see the result of the argument between Aakash and Geet.

Geet huffed and pointed her finger at her brother like a petulant child, "Veerji mujhe mela dikhaane nahi le jaana chaahte!" For a second Anjali was sent to past where a five year old Geet cried as she pointed her finger at nine year old Aakash and complained that her Veere was not taking her out to play. Anjali was brought out of her memories by Geet coming to her and shaking her by holding her shoulders. When Anjali focused on her, Geet whispered, "Di! Yeh mera plan hai!" Anjali frowned for a second but she understood Geet's indication. She nodded and turned towards Aakash. Aakash was about to state his reasons for not going when Anjali looked at him pointedly and he looked down sadly knowing that he had no say against his Di. Anjali announced loudly, "Jisko bhi mela dekhne jaana hai, woh jaa sakta hai!" Geet, Paayal, Khushi and NK cheered happily but rest of them did not react much.

Geet frowned at the dismal response for the mela. She turned towards Paayal, Khushi and Lavanya, "Lagta hai baaki sab nahi aa rahe! Par aap teeno toh chalengi na?" Paayal and Khushi eagerly nodded while Lavanya nodded after some hesitation. Geet knew that with Paayal and Khushi on board, she can easily get Arnav and Aakash on board too. "Main bhi hoon!", NK piped up and Geet grinned happily. She turned towards her brothers, "Veere! AB! Chalenge na aap dono?" Arnav and Aakash hesitated at the thought of travelling in heat and Geet huffed. She turned towards Anjali and whined, "AD!" Anjali placed her hands on her hips and glared at them, "Maan Saab, Chote, Chutke! Aap teeno jaa rahe hain inke saath!"

"What the!"

"But Di..."

"Kya?"

Came three distinct responses as all three men looked at Anjali in shock. To go to a mela when the sun was climbing up the sky?? No way! Anjali huffed and stormed towards Maan, "Maan Saab! Did I hear a no from you?" Maan fumbled as he looked around for escape, "Dekho Angel..." "Don't you dare Angel me!", Anjali glared at Maan, "Are you going or not?" Maan gulped at her glare and then slowly nodded. Geet and Khushi cheered while Arnav rolled his eyes, "You may have threatened Maan to go but I am not going Di!" Anjali huffed and pouted. Ab inhein kaise manaayein jinke liye hum yeh sab kar rahe hain?

Geet snuck by Arnav and whispered to him, "AB! Kitna achcha chance mil raha hai Khushi ke saath ghoomne ka aur aap hain ki..." Arnav looked at Khushi in surprise as he realized that he will get more time with Khushi if he went for this trip. And that also in a fair!!! Isse achcha mauka kahaa milega Khushi ko yaad dilaane ka ki humne mela mein saath kitne haseen pal bitaaye the! Arnav piped up suddenly, "On the second thought, I am also coming!" The whole room looked at him in astonishment while Anjali looked at Geet incredulously, "Yeh kaunsi chaavi tumhaare haath aagayi Baby jo tumne Chote ko manaa liya?" Geet giggled and smiled proudly.

"Aap log ho aayiye! Main nahi aa paaunga!", Aakash piped up sending a shockwave in the room. Eee ka hua? Chote ghoomne nikal pade aur Chutke na jaane ki baat karat rahe? Yeh ulta kaisan hogaya? Naaniji wondered. Maamiji narrowed her eyes; Kahin bhoot pisaach ka prakop toh nahi humaar bachchon par?

Anjali and Geet pouted simultaneously, "Par kyun?" Aakash shrugged, "Woh aaj NT, Dev, Annie, Arjun aur main humaare puraane college friends ke saath video chat karne waale the! Hum sab mushkil se ek saath online aa rahe hain so I cannot miss it. Sorry but I cannot come!" Dev and Arjun nodded indicating that Aakash was right! Anjali looked at Geet worriedly; ab yeh Chote ke chamche yahaan rahe toh sab Chote ke paas ugal denge Chachaji ke aate hi! Ab hum kya karein?

Suddenly Geet smiled mischievously as a plan entered her head, "Theek hai Veere! Mat aao!" Anjali looked at Geet in surprise. Geet smiled sweetly at Aakash, "Jab mele mein AB LB ke liye cheezein khareed rahe honge aapki PB ke saath koi nahi hoga! Bechaari PB! Kitni akeli hongi! Par isse aapko kya? Aapko toh aapki honewaali biwi se jyaada important aapke dost haina!" Aakash's eyes widened as he looked at Paayal in shock. He looked at Dev and Arjun in horror as he realized that he would have to leave Paayal alone if he sat to chat with his friends. He looked at his friends pleadingly; Dev looked away at the ceiling, the surrounding, the staircase everywhere except Aakash's pleading face. Arjun took one look at Aakash's expression and glared at him in anger, "Waah! Dost waah! Honewaali biwi aagayi toh apne puraane doston ko ignore karega! Waah mere dost! Waah!" Aakash huffed and looked at the ground in despair. Annie rolled her eyes at her husband's teasing and took pity on Aakash, "Forget him Aakash! Yeh Arjun tumhein bas tease kar rahe hain! You go and have fun!" Aakash's face brightened and he looked eagerly at his friends. Arjun and Dev looked at Aakash's expression and started laughing. Dev spoke up, "Haan Bhai! Tum jaao! Enjoy karlo! Kyunki shaadi ke pehle ka yeh time phirse waapis nahi aata!" Aakash smiled sheepishly as Geet and Khushi cheered eagerly. Anjali and the elders shared happy looks with each other. Arnav and his two support systems, Maan and Aakash will be out of the house soon!

"Driver! Gaadi nikaalo!", Geet hollered as soon as Maan, Geet, Arnav, Khushi, NK, La, Paayal and Aakash reached outside followed by Anjali who wanted to make sure that they were definitely out of the house. Everyone looked around curiously as to whom Geet was calling as there did not seem to be any driver around. For a second, there was silence and then Geet tapped Arnav's shoulder, "Driver! Tumne suna nahi! Gaadi nikaalo!" "What the!", Arnav looked at Geet in shock while the girls giggled. NK and Aakash looked at Geet incredulously while Maan shook his head at Geet's antics. Geet slinked towards Arnav and whispered to him, "Kyun? Yahi toh job aap karte the na jab aap Khushi ke saath romance kar rahe the?" Arnav glared at Geet and hissed through his teeth, "Motor Mouth! Shut your trap before everyone knows the whole story!" Geet giggled and spoke up loudly, "Sochlo AB! Mere Driver bante ho? Ya aapki shaadi ke baad sabko aapki asliyat bataa dun? Sab aap pe hasenge woh alag aur aapki image ki band bajegi so alag!" Arnav looked at her in horror and Anjali piped up, "Yeh kis asliyat ki baat ho rahi hai?" Arnav hesitated, "Umm... Di... umm... kuch nahi! Main car nikaalta hoon!" Arnav walked away to get his SUV while rest of the people gathered looked at Geet and Arnav alternatively in shock. Everyone had only one question in their mind; Yeh Geet ke paas aisa kya Arnav ka secret hai jo Arnav uski har baat maanne laga? "Geet! Humein bhi bataao tum dono kis asliyat ke baare mein baat kar rahe the?", Anjali spoke up while narrowing her eyes at Geet. Arnav, who was just going towards the car, stilled and turned around. He looked at Geet pleadingly not wanting her to tell anything to his Di. Geet winked at Arnav and smiled at Anjali mischievously, "It is a secret Di! Phir kabhi bataaungi!" Arnav stormed off to get the car while others wondered exactly what the secret was!
