Kkavyanjali cuts others short

Amrita Singh's comeback vehicle Kkavyanjali (Star Plus) has rolled over the timings of four daily soaps. Kkavyanjali, which premieres on January 25, airs at 9.30 pm.

This means the long-running dailies — Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kehta Hai Dil, Sanjivani — A Medical Boon and Saara Akash will be cut short by half an hour.

Kkavyanjali from Balaji will run Monday to Thursday making Des Mein.. (Monday), Kehta Hai Dil (Tuesday), Sanjivani (Wednesday) and Saara Akash (Thursday) run from 9 pm to 9.30 pm. This new programming line-up comes into effect from January 25.

It is learnt that these soaps were supposed to go off the air in the New Year. But the channel has now reversed its decision. At the moment the serials have been granted an extension till April.

Deepak Sehgal of Star Plus says, "We like to surprise people. That's what everyone was saying. But these shows are doing well and very much on. The change in programming has been made as Kkavyanjali is at 9.30 pm. We decided to make these four shows into half hour episodes."

This also signals a major programming shift for Star which has had the one-hour 9 pm show slot for a while.

Nirav Vaidya, creative director, Sanjivani, says "Initially it began as a rumour and then things became concrete. As of now we have been told that it is on in a half-hour slot. We have always maintained a fast pace, now it will be even faster."

Sunjoy Waddhwa, producer of Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, says, "It is ultimately the channel's call. Des will now focus on Mahi's (Sangeeta Ghosh) revenge on Veer (Ankur Nayar) and Heer's (Neha Mehta) love saga."
