Lovebirds Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh caught in the act.

What happens when you see Ram standing all alone with a gushing face in the streets of Mumbai way past midnight. You have to guess that his Leela is somewhere in vicinity and he is waiting for her. That's exactly what we guessed when we spotted Ranveer Singh last Saturday (19 April 2014) waiting outside a high rise in Lokhandwala (W), Mumbai at 1 am.

Team Tellychakkar.com was on its way back home after Smile Foundation's fashion do, when a Jaguar whizzed past us and came to a screeching halt outside the gate of a swanky high rise. As the car slowed down, we spotted a bandana sporting Ranveer Singh emerging out of the Jaguar. The reporter inside us told that something news worthy was about to unfold and we parked ourselves nearby and held a watch. And we were right...

So there was Ranveer, dressed in his ganjis and yapping away to glory on his phone while standing outside his car. After a patient wait of five minutes when we saw nothing happening, the female folks of our team decided to make a move. Three of them, dressed in t-shirts with the logo of Tellychakkar.com, approached Ranveer, who was quite taken in by surprise on seeing journalists around. After overcoming the initial awkwardness, Ranveer soon warmed up. Throwing caution to the wind, Ranveer showered his ready charm and also eagerly acceded to the girls' request for a photo-ops. The generous actor also posed solo and fondly remembered the days when he had hosted our New Talent Awards, years back when he was just a newcomer.

All good. All sober. All hunky dory.

But then all hell broke loose, when a tall, lithesome figure exited from the main lobby of the building, and started walking towards Ranveer unaware of our presence.

Who was she? Any guesses? Let's not play a spoiltsport and get back to the story.

Seeing the figure walking in, we trained our eyes for in the relatively dark ambience (it was late in the night), it was hard to see who it could be and it took us a while to recognise that the lady was none other than Deepika Padukone!!!

This completely de-glam and plain Jane avatar of Deepika was a far cry from the impressionable diva that she portrays on screen. Sans her make-up, Deepika looked just like another ordinary Lokhandwala girl. Much ado about nothing, really.

On seeing Tellychakkar's t-shirts, an alert Deepika immediately made for a run to her car and shut herself inside. A concerned Ranveer signalled an end to the photo ops and rushed to his rumoured lover's side. As we followed him, an agitated Ranveer stopped in his tracks, looked back and said 'Guys, please leave us alone.' When we said that all we wanted to do was just greet Deepika, Ranveer in a much stricter tone said, Please, let it be guys.'

Better sense prevailed and we cut short our pursuit, for the situation was heating up. Ranveer, meanwhile, went and had a word with Deepika. Both then drove off in their respective cars and soon disappeared into the darkness that engulfed the city.

Where did they head to? That only the lovebirds can answer.

But before we decided to call it a night, we had a chat with the building security guard who revealed that Deepika and Ranveer usually come calling to see their director friend Afzal Irani, who resides in the building. The guard further added that Deepika had dropped in early that night and Ranveer had come to pick her up as he usually does but since we were around they had to drive off separately.

Well, we didn't mean to play spoilsport Ranveer. But we really like the fact that you religiously come to pick your lady. Now that's what we call true love.

However, before signing off we would like to state to Mr Singh and Miss Padukone that the cat is out of the basket and we have caught it and we are keeping it. In spite of all the media speculation and reports you two have constantly denied being in a relationship, but it's time to come out in open and confess. Don't put up an act which might later prove to be mere buffoonery a la Chitrangada Singh.

Tellychakkar.com saw you two late in the night, looking all happy and content, like any other love struck couple. There's nothing wrong being in love, we say. Yes, you two are public figures, big stars of Bollywood, but your fans deserve to know the truth. Don't let your PRs or Managers dictate your relationship and you both should speak out to the world like true lovers. And for our extended media family, all reporters out there, who really work hard day in and day out, you all now know what to ask Deepika and Ranveer when you meet them the next time.
