Disclaimer: While this thread welcomes all perspectives, if you want to be in happy, dream Akdha land after today's episode I would recommend you not read further. All comments are meant in good humor and no offense meant to anybody. 😊
Preamble (yes, I do that these days): 😆
There is definitely one thing to celebrate today and that is the end of the "Tom and Jerry" track and finally the meeting of Jodha-Jalal. 👏
Jalal and Jodha definitely met today ... But it was not the Akdha I love. I saw Jalal as a lover completely surrendered and broken in love and Jodha who was only focused on her hurt and self-respect and saw nothing beyond it. To be honest, given this was Jodha's first outburst, I did not expect more than that from her and Paridhi did a fabulous job showing the pain of her self-respect being hurt but no other perception and sense for her husband otherwise.
As you all know, I am not very happy with this track, I have tried many tactics to survive this track:
- Denial ... This can't be happening and pleading to the CVs to bring my Jodha back
- Humor ... Which is luckily still intact
- Blame ... Shifting the blame to the CVs and the channel ... Shyamala Aunty saw through that completely ... So won't hide their anymore
But, now I have realized it is quite simple, there are two critical things to assume when watching this track if you want to survive with your sanity and temper under control:
- The clock reset that fateful Friday night with Jalal's outburst ... Jodha has forgotten what both she and Jalal have done before that ... The clock stopped then
- Jalal is not the Shehenshah at that moment ... He has been transformed into a lover who can bend backwards and forwards ... He admitted that yesterday itself
Look the writing was on the wall, we already knew that Jalal would feign his death, would apologize, and Jodha would refuse. So, thought I would have as much fun as possible as I could with my Take 5 as I had a whole hour to choose from:
(1) Everyone can see Jalal's love except Jodha: Okay, maybe there are no surprises here but I do find it amusing that while Jodha ponders how she never felt Jalal's love ... A random lady in the ashram to Todarmal ... To Bharmal ... To Mainavati's sister-in-law can see the love for him in his eyes.
I wonder when Jodha's memory froze during the Friday outburst ... Because someone was bearing his heart out about his love and heart and how she destroyed it.
Also, she must have lost some of her training in eye reading 😉
(2) Todarmal, a man who almost always talks sense: You know I must hand it to Todarmal ...
- He advised Jalal to check the temple
- He told him he can see the love in his eyes ... And If Jodha is hurt she must love him too (kaash, Jodha understood the second half of this sentence)
- He stopped anyone from going after Jodha and Jalal after the fake death drama ... Even he understands it is about time that talked it out
So, given there is never a character who consistently talks sense in Jodha Akbar but Todarmal was about to win the prize ... Until he supported Jalal in his plan to fake his death ... Gosh, couldn't you help him with any other idea. 😆
I think Jalal will be net positive if he is even able to get Todarmal back to Agra with him... No matter who else comes with him or not. This hide and seek journey was worth it just to get Todarmal back in the show, so hope he stays! ⭐️
(3) Plan ulta chala gaya: Wow, for a change a spoiler was ulta ... He first feigns his death and then apologizes to Jodha.
He finally realized Jodha was hiding from him and decides to use a teda trick to get her to come to him. And, Jalal said a dialogue he should have said yesterday today, "Somehow I feel this lep was sent by you Jodha Begum." It took him so long to realize! 😆
Now my only thing is, if you are going to try a roadside romeo trick might as well save it as last resort ... First try to apologize and then if all efforts fail make her realize what she was about to lose! Don't apologize, when she is already upset you faked your death! 😉
The only good news ... Most people didn't realize that was the Shehenshah lying like that ... Though Jalal did let the cat out of the bag a bit when he went yelling Jodha Begum! Jodha Begum! Jalal, tum bhi naa ...
Romantic moment of the day for me: When Jalal caught Jodha as she was about to faint from the burden and shock of Kartavya ... Kaash he caught me, I would have come back to Agra anytime, even if it is a paagalkhaana. 😳
(4) Jodha finally took her dil ki badaaas out: I was so excited that she finally exploded with what was in her heart and that was enough for me to make it to the top 5. And what came out, only her hurt and her self-respect and of course, her belief in kartavya and pride in being a Rajvanshi. I was not surprised at all ... After all the trouble she has taken to leave Agra and her ties, she cannot go back so easily. Paridhi nailed this scene and I liked the physical closeness and authority with which she pushed Jalal. I definitely relate with her anger for "yes and no" questions. 👏
Sidenote: While I expected Jodha to angry, not forgive him, and tell him her self-respect had been hurt that does not mean she does not have not see anything beyond herself; three things that did not resonate with me:
- What wrong did I do? I tried to save your life and was vachan band. Jodha, even you told a different answer to your antar aatma. If her goal was to further guilt-trip Jalal, that goal was accomplished.
- How could you kalinkit a brother-sister relationship? How did he possibly know? Why did you tell him it was one of "mohabhat" when he asked you?
- And when she talked of why a woman has to balance all her relationships? I could not help feel pain that she had prioritized her brother and his promise over Jalal during that time and didn't even realize it.
(5) The hide-and-seek: I was about to break my tv when Jodha thought of running away again ... I was like the game would start all over again with Jalal bhatkofying for Jodha again while Abul Mali, Shariffudin, Adham Khan, and Maharana Pratap after his life.
Luckily, Jalal did the smartest thing possible ... Call Bharmal to take Jodha to Amer so at least he would know she was safe. Perhaps, he could also remind himself to go back to Agra and be the Shehenshah? 😉
Did anyone else notice the relief on Jodha's face when it was Bharmal instead of Jalal? What did she expect Jalal would do to her? 😆
Honorable mention: I am not sure if this made me happier or sadder, but the whole attempt at suicide reminded me of that mind-blowing episode of Jodha's suicide before.
How well we understood the turmoil of Jodha then ... And loved the authority with which Jalal brought Jodha back and made her face his perspective as well.
Definitely, Jalal has softened his shouting capabilities ... But, Jodha definitely wasn't trying as hard to commit suicide... She wanted to be saved this time, could tell! 😉
And boy, did Jalal know his bhaagin right - he first listed her parents, Hamida Bano, and Rahim before himself to stop her from committing suicide. He understands Jodha's priorities well. 😆
Cute award of the year: Jalal's puppy eyes in the precap when he was secretly pleading Jodha to not go ... It kind of reminded me of "Tussi na jao" from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai ... But, it was cute!
