Reference : Reality shows like Indian Idol, SRGM etc...

There are cultural/economical differences in different countires, good/bad depends. Not to ignore the availbility of resources / oppurtunities / acceptance of people in different countries, if you know what I mean.

Debate : Is it fair to internationize talent shows hosted in best interest of India? with internationize I mean encouraging people from other countries having resources / oppurtunities to excel in thier fields.

anshu MAN! how do you come up with such wonderful topics 😵 making me feel like a loser 5 times a day? 😆
kidding..

This topic is something I have randomely thought about and debated with myself over 😉 (yet had no brain to make a post . duuhh..😭) .

I think it is unfair because they seem to have an upper hand in terms of being appreciated for where they come from / the cewl accent and what not 😆 As you mentioned in the post, yes, they may also have better opportunities as compared to Indians, in terms of training and such.

However, two points in favor of foreign born people of Indian origin. -
1. disparity between opportunity and life-style is large even within India. I am more concerned about people being driven by other factors mentioned earlier. I am recently noticing a huge trend driving youngsters here to try to make it to Bollywood / such.
2. if you and i come to the states looking for better opportunities, why can;t they look for opportunities in india? 😊

hmmm... I dont find it to be unfair, as whoever sings good will come forward. The other day in SRGMP, the boy from UK (sorry forgot his name, from HR gharana), was ousted cos he was not that good in classical and his sur was not upto the mark and was not as good compared to others who were from India. He himself commmented on it that cos he had not taken any classical riyaz he was facing difficulty and hence ousted.

Lets look at it this way, India is giving opportunity to all the singers all over the world. 😊

I am all yes to go and get 'talent' from anywhere in the world... But, I personally think that the intentions of most of these talent hunt shows are more market driven than talent driven....

The format of all these shows has SMS voting and the attached revenue as a integral part of it and they will go any extent to exploit the vulnerable sides of human emotions and extract max in terms of SMS from them.. and when the attached revenue actually comes in the form of (x 45) or (x 90) of Indian currency then why not!

Agreed that this time Zee went international, but have they really been able to hunt down some great talent from oversees.. From the initial few episodes, the answer is negetive... Also, there are so many channels of unexplored talent within the country - who probably deserve a chance as much...

I think, by going with the zonal and the quota format of choosing singers, you are dividing your audience, promoting non-musical emotions of the viewers, as well as barring actual talent to be hunted by moving away from a free-for-all format!

In India I had nice gurus who can teach me instruments in indian music but did not have time and money.... now in thailand i have money and time but i dont have that back up of gurus to teach me musical instruments.....

the resources of learning for the international people are really less..... In India you have many resources and the person who wants to go in that profession does go through all the hard work to learn music....

I dont think there is much cultural difference now amongst indian communities abroad and those in India.... The people abroad have retained the Indian culture within their hearts.... A few have diverted but that has happened even in India....

As such I dont think there is much fair or unfairness here and what we are looking for is talent😊

Current era is of globalisation.... Even I am planning to globalise myself as an individual otherwise i would nto survive.... So I dont think that there is anything wrong with the show going International.... its just globalisation.... Also you get to hear new talents.... You will get to hear different musics too.... I think its a great concept of globalisation..... but the motive of the show has turned to commercialisation which is a sad case.... I would have preferred them to select the students of classical singing from outside India atleast rather than selecting person like yogi who does nt have sufficient classical training😃

In total I think reality shows are unfair. Period. Mainly because the most popular win! Talent is taken into account but only till a certain point!

And as for people coming from abroad! No, I don't think it's unfair, if you're good and have the talent it shouldn't have to matter whom you have to face.
