The Broken Camera and Joining Hearts
Click. The flash made the monks lose their sight for a moment.
"Thank you.." Taani thanked them for the pic and they gave their usual warm smile to her. They moved towards their monastery while she continued clicking the scenic views of gangtok. Though her first love was travelling, the second was photography. So here she was in one of the most beautiful cities of India clicking each and every moment that comes its way. She was busy in capturing a view as she stepped backwards with her eyes still on camera.
"Watch out!!" She became startled as she heard the voice. Her Nikon D3300 24.3 MP fall from her hand crashing directly at the ground. While the sudden interference made her shocked, as soon as she saw her camera on ground, her anger knew no limits.
"What the hell!!!" She snapped back at the guy standing in front of her while looking at his foot with concern. "Don't you have eyes Mr!" She shouted on him. He sarcastically giggled on her comment.
"I am sorry! But did you just said that." He laughed again as if she cracked the joke of millennium. " You just stamped on my foot Miss, and you're asking me if I am blind."
"Do hell with your foot. You just broke my camera!!" Taani shouted back.
"Do hell with your camera. It was your mistake!!" He snapped back.
"How dare you?! Its your mistake and now you're going to make this correct." She gave him her attitude before picking up her broken camera and looking at it with sadly. She retorted back at him with anger and threw the camera in his palm.
"I want it ok, by evening.." She said and before he could answer back, took out a small business card keeping it in his side pocket. "Have a good day!" She smiled sarcastically before leaving him in shock.
"Sir, this will just few more minutes." The shopkeeper said with a smile. Rey returned the same. This couldn't be worse. Here he planned to spend some quality time with his friends in gangtok and the first day itself brought this problem. He just hoped that it won't continue.
"Rey! Hurry up yaar! We won't get entry in that club after 7." Neil said making a puppy face. They had plans of having a fun night in one of the clubs of Gangtok, but to their dismay their best friend was busy in repairing the camera of a stranger.
"Why are you even doing this? Just give her the camera back. It was just a mistake." Swayam said.
"I don't wanna keep any dues of any stranger. Especially a literally blind, sarcastic, arrogant stranger." He gritted his teeth. Swayam giggled on his antics.
"Done sir." The guy at counter said handling him the camera while he gave him the money making a dent in his wallet. He cursed her as his money went to waste, all because of her stupid camera.
"Hotel Hill View. It's the one." Swayam said as he reconfirmed the hotel name from the business card.
"Rey, go and finish this asap. We're getting late yaar." Vicky pouted. Rey nodded.
"Excuse me..I have this camera of one of your guests.." Rey explained the receptionist.
"Sure Sir, we'll give it ..but can you tell us the name.." He asked Rey.
"Oh yeah, Miss..." It struck him as he realised that he didn't even knew her name. Receptionist looked at him in confusion as he tried getting her name. Suddenly it struck him. He quickly opened the camera switching the pics in it. He cursed her again as all the pics were of scenic view or some random people. There was none of hers. He continued switching the pics until he stopped on one. It was a blur pic, dated as the last taken, probably of some mountain view. He focused a little on the pic finally realising that it's the pic of the same place where they met a few hours ago. In all the mishap, the camera must have clicked, hence taking a blur picture. While nothing was clear in the pic, he was successful in finding one thing. Her hand was captured too. Her silver bracelet was visible with a blur T hanging from it.
"T!!" He shouted.
"Excuse me sir!" The receptionist was confused.
"I mean, her name starts from T. Please search your guests whose name starts with T." He requested.
"Sir, there are three. But I'm sorry I can't enclose their names. Its against our policy." He said.
"Please, its kinda urgent. Ok! Listen, I'll you about her looks and may be then you can tell me about her room no. She is a young girl.. in her 20s..she was wearing white T-shirt along with fade blue jeans and...yeah! She is a quirky, arrogant girl with a lot of attitude. I think you can't miss that one." He said with a bright hope especially after his last statement.
"Looks like you're describing me." He heard a familiar voice making him snap back founding her.
"Wow! Talk of the devil and the devil is here." He said with a sheepish smile looking at the receptionist hoping that he would join him in this.
"My camera?!" She asked him.
He threw the camera in her palm, with an attitude. "Here's your CAMERA!!" He said mimicking her. He started moving towards his friends who were waiting for him.
"Hey Mr.." She called him while he turned back at her. She came to him.
"Thank you.." She said keeping her attitude aside. He looked surprised.
"Here you go!" She forwarded him the money.
"No, that's fine.." He said with a smile. Taani smiled back keeping the money back to her pocket.
"Ok then, bye.." She said.
"Bye.." Rey turned to leave while she do the same. While he was just a few steps away from the exit, he turned again only to find her moving upstairs.
"Hey!" He shouted grabbing her attention. She looked at him confused.
"I'm sorry but I didn't get your name.." He said.
"Taani Shekhawat.." She smiled.
"Reyaansh Singhania.." He said. She smiled back. Their was silence again. "Umm..what are you doing tonight?" He asked making her shock for a second. " Don't get me wrong, just asking.." He cleared.
"Nothing, just a bit of work.." She said.
"Well then, if you don't mind, join us.." He said pointing at his friends who were giving him killing looks for making all of them late. Taani looks at him and then his friends giving it a thought. After thinking for a few minutes, she turned back to her room climbing a few more stairs. She turned again.
"Just give me five minutes.." She said with a smile. Rey smiled back. She ran back to her room while he ruffled his hairs slightly blushing. While a few hours ago, he was blaming his destiny for bringing a problem on the first day of trip, he now was happy as they had 6 more days to go and one more companion added.

"Dude!! You're so weird.." Vicky said glaring at Rey. Neil too joined him.
"Pehle to uss ko itni galiyan de raha tha, uss ko bhootni, arrogant..aur pata nahi kya kya bula raha tha..aur ab usse saath mein hang out karne ke liye bula liya..." They looked at him with suspicious eyes.
"Baat to sahi hai.." Swayam too joined them.
"swayam tu bhi!! Aisa kuch nahi hai yaar!" He tried convincing them.
"Excuse me!" He heard her voice and instantly turned back along with all the boys.

While his eyes were almost ready to come out of socket, his friends proved they synonymous nature with chameleon as each one of them started giving a pass on her. He cleared his throat to get their attention but everyone was busy in drooling over taani. He cleared his throat again. Gosh! They were behaving like leeches completely attached with taani as if their life depends on her.
"Guys!!" He shouted getting confused and angry glares of everyone. "Chale!! Ab late nahi ho raha!" He snapped back.
"Ha..ha chalo!" Neil said followed by Vicky.
While swayam was managing Neil and vicky who were continuously busy in fighting on illogical things, Rey and taani were following the trio from a little distance. Taani was busy in adoring the night views of gangtok when Rey noticed her camera in her hands.
"You really love photography..isn't it?!" He initiated the convo. She just smiled.
"Waise tum yaha kya kar rahi ho?" Rey asked again.
"Ek assignment complete karne aayi ho. I'm a professional phtographer. One MNC wanted me to click the pictures for their next year calendar. So here I am. Aur tum?"
"Mein to bas..wahi monotonous life se door, kuch dino ke liye apne friends ke saath yaha aa gaya, to have fun." There was silence again.
"Waise tum karte kya ho?" She asked.
"Mein Mumbai ki ek company mein Head Executive hu, Mehtas and Mehtas." He said while she looked at him with a complete shocked expression.
"You mean, The Mehtas and Mehtas..the one jinki main branch juhu beach ke bilkul saamne hai!" She confirmed.
"Ya! Why?" He asked confused.
"Unhone hi to mujhe ye assignment diya hai. Kya naam tha..ya! Ranvijay Singhania. The Head CEO. " Her head blinked with the info.
"That's my dad." He said with a small smile.
"Don't tell me, vo khadoos tumhare dad hai!!!" She asked with even more shocked expression but soon was taken aback with his looks.
"Oops..Sorry." She said sheepishly. He just smiled.
"Achha aur vo tumhare dad ke cabin mein jo unke saath bethti hai, the blonde girl, kya naam tha.." Taani focussed on her brain.
"Sharon..she is my sister.." He informed. She nodded understanding instantly. "And swayam ki Girlfriend.."
"Oo..maanna padega! Kafi complicated connection hai.." She said with a deep thinking look, for a minute making him lost in her eyes. Her hand touched his while they were walking down the street, making a sudden vibration paas through their spine. They looked in each other's eyes trying to figure out if the other feels the same.
"Waise, tum kab tak ho yaha pe!" He asked.
"Kal subah..mujhe kal subah hi nikalna hai. Submission date parso ki hai.." She said.
"oh.." He became silent again.
"Guys!! There's the club!" Neil shouted grabbing everyone's attention. Soon he ran like Milkha followed by everyone. The night was long while the youngsters only needed a medium to celebrate. The mercury dropped in the valleys of gangtok while they celebrated the night forgetting everything.
A car stopped in front of the Hotel Hill View. The bell hop kept her luggage in the car while she wore her shades to avoid the heat of sun.
"Thank you for your visit mam!" The receptionist said before opening the door of the car for her. She gave him a warm smile. Before she could put herself inside the car, she heard a shout of her name. She turned around only to find Rey running towards her wildly. He halted in front of her looking completely exhausted.
"Are you ok?" She asked.
"Ya..ya.." He took deep breathes while cursing the reason which made him turn a race horse. "Vo tumse ek favour chahiye tha.." He said. She raised her brows.
"Kya tum ye dad ko de dogi.." He forwarded a file to her. "Vo swayam ek project handle kar raha hai, ye ussi ki file hai, dad ko urgently chahiye, to meine socha ki.." His voice broke with his deep breathes.
"Oh! Its fine. Mein de dungi." She took the file from him.
"Ok then..bye." She said with a smile.
"Ya..bye." He smiled back. She sat inside the car as the driver closed the door behind her. While the driver, switched on the engine, Rey knocked on her window making her shocked again.
"Ab kya hua?!" She asked.
"See you in mumbai.."He said with a smile. She smiled back.
"Ya! See you soon.." Soon he moved a little back as the driver put on the accelerator driving down the hill towards the airport. While their first meet came to an end, it was definitely the start of something new.

1. Sab joote lekar ready honge kyunki ek to mein exam ke naam pe updates nahi de rahi uske upar suddenly OS Par mere dil ka gum samajho 😕 itna saara likhne ka mann hua ki, meine emotions mein behke ye faltu OS likh diya *Keep your shoes away from me*
2. Mein kisi bhi tarah iss faltu os se hone wale sardard ke liye responsible nahi hu😆
