There is an obvious mishap in the flow of scenes, the intensity rises up and down at an unsteady pace.
However, let's just speak of today's episode: Barkat
A good start, but what ruins the entire sequence is the buzz/articles that it's not the real barkat. The intensity, emotion and essence of the scene gets naturally sucked out of the situation leaving it bitter for us as viewers. To see the Abdullah's this vulnerable towards two scheming people is indeed sad.
The makers don't seem to be confident enough to carry on the notion of this Barkat being the actual sister, maybe they don't want us to accept her or feel for her at all, but that for me ruined the start of the episode.
From there the episode picked up and we got to the brighter aspects of the show.
Suraiyyah and Osman were indeed brilliant in their performance.👏
Mihir Khan, the man who awaited the Abdullah's arrival as was clear is too conniving to utter a word unless he intends to. He nearly killed Zain. That is the venom which runs in his veins even today.
And so as Barkat announces that the Nikkah was taking place with her will one fails to understand her predicament of a forceful marriage with a 75 year old man. The next second her request to release the man who had brought her up "well" was a clear indication that the 'confession' acted as a setup to save Mihir from the clutches of the police.
Mihir gets away from the messy affair clean with the seed of hate and deceit planted in the Abdullah house in the form of this Barkat. My only complain becomes that if only we weren't told this before hand, and worked our way to it in the episode it would have made an amazing watch.
The flow of the episode goes through a rough patch, as Barkat stands beaming with joy on seeing her name engraved at the metallic plate on the wall. The emotional connectivity with Barkat, which had an amazing buildup of flashbacks, Osman-Suraiyyah: Zain-Fahad conversations goes haywire.
However, the family moment once again warmed my heart. It was the hope for that emotional connect which shined above all.
As Zain held Barkat's hand and raised it to caress the name on the plate, as Fahad stood next to her, pinching her jokingly giving the much needed light hearted laughter. As the two brothers kissed their long lost sister on the forehead, a mark of affection, as Suraiyyah rests her head on Fahad's shoulder her heart now at peace, as Osman consoles and shares his joy with Suraiyyah. It was all wonderfully done !
Alas Suraiyyah says the family is now complete...Hardly. The web of deceit has found it's foothold in the Barkat Villa.
The Brother in Fahad-Zain has come to the fore, the mother in Suraiyyah has gained dominance, the father in Osman stands tall and Barkat receives their undivided attention, as the family snuggles closer to a group hug and the daughter-in-laws stand by the side beaming with joy for the family they love.
It will be interesting to see things unfold in the future episodes.
Episode Rating: 7/10. I think.
Precap: I don't understand the thread and wall stuff, neither do I strongly find myself brimming with joy at the start of Zaya friendship. How will the equation change? I wonder. Hoping to be surprised :) 😳
