CHAPTER-3 REMINISCENCE
Loving someone truly doesn't mean being in their best of opinions and doing the greatest of things. Instead it means falling down in their eyes and selflessly sacrificing a part yours even if it is that person itself.. - Nikitha(me).
*Flashback*
I sat down quietly composing myself. I decided to maintain distance with him. I tried all i can but i kept looking at him from the corner of my eye from time to time. He seemed like he didn't care. Why would he? Did I care? Why did I? I found myself getting distracted eventually. I was looking at that black board filled with different words and diagrams but it appeared blank to me.
" Excuse me! You mind moving Miss. Day dreamer? " said Randhir in his UK accent.
It seems like the bell just rang.It was intermission. I snapped out of my thoughts when i suddenly spotted people moving from bench to bench. It felt like my vision just got cleared. I turned my face in a spur to look at him and he was standing beside me with his arms folded and a confused expression. I kept looking into his honey orbs till he snapped his fingers across my face dragging me out of my reverie. Looks like he mentally cursed the teacher who asked him to get in letting me sit to the corner.
" I heard that you are the topper of this class? You don't look like one dumbo! " he said.
I was not in a state of processing what he said so retorting was no option there. " Um.. Ah.. Nothing. It is just that.. " I said.
" Spare me from this crap Agarwal! I don't have the whole millenium for you! Get your ass out of here so that i can go and get some air away from you. " he said.
I immediately popped out of my seat and let him go. I sat down as he left, still in a daze. Was I falling for him? After a short-lived introspection I mentally slapped myself for thinking about such trash. Wait a minute I said to myself. " What did that morose NRI say? He called me a dumbo didn't he? How dare he talks to me like that! He has to pay for it" I thought.
I stood up in an impulse and got my legs starting. I stomped out of MY class and suddenly came to a halt at the door. I spotted him standing at the railing with his back turned towards her. All the girls and boys were surrounding him. I decided to watch what was going on. He looked nothing less than a celebrity. Everybody was shaking hands with him and questioning him about different things in the foreign countries. He barely sported a smile and gave one word answers. he was getting uncomfortable when girls came nearer to him. It was visible that he didn't like entertaining them. He did make some friends. Only guys. He got along well with Varun as he was an NRI too and he joined DPS 2 years back.
They came back as the next session started. He glared at me as he pushed me inside not caring about the consequences. I was perplexed but I had no choice but to get in. The day passed by without my acknowledgement. He had his lunch with Varun. They got along really well in just a day. I was happy he got a friend. It was the last session and I adviced him to take some of my notes home so that he can complete them in advance. He didn't mouth a thankyou but gave a look like my advice was obsolete.
" Such an egoist! " I thought as I saw him gradually disappearing from my sight.
Days passed by. It was just a routine. It was now clearer that I did fall for him. He showed no signs of interest though. Just 2 days back he fell off some steps and I rushed towards him. His leg was bleeding. I panicked and started yelling for help. Varun and I escorted him to the medical room. His leg was bandaged. he wasn't able to climb the stairs and denied from taking my help. I was atleast happy that Varun was there.
Everything was fine until that b***h Keerti entered the scene. She sat beside Randhir sticking onto him. Looked like she would sit in his lap given a chance. He didn't deny her presence. Awkwardness did take over him but eventually he let himself get used to it. She came daily. Sat beside him. Today was heights! She held his hand and started rubbing hers to his and waving it in different directions as she kept blabbering. She is considered as the hot chick of this class! Randhir, I thought was decent but he was like every other guy. I always feel like DPS craves for lust and not love and may be that's one reason Im left out.
I've had enough I thought. I couldn't stand that Keerti and her gang go gaga over Randhir. That moron didn't oppose and I was having a real big problem with that now! I decided I wouldn't care. So I went to the bench where Akshay was seated. He was a my-type guy. He and i were good friends. We help each other in studies. But I know I ignored him for many days now. I had to compensate.
" Hey, Akshay! " I said.
" Ya. Hi " he said plainly.
" What happened? Any problem? " I asked.
" No nothing. " he said avoiding eye contact with me.
" No. There definitely is something wrong. Look at me and tell me Akshay! Why are you ignoring me? "I said.
" Don't you think that should be my dialogue? " he asked coldly.
" Ohh! Okay.. Now it makes sense to me. I know i ignored you and Im sorry but it wasn't intentional. I was in a fix with that NRI, my notes, studies, exams, family and that moron's behaviour." She stresses on the last part as she turned back to look at him still entertaining those items.
" Someone's going jelo? " Akshay giggled.
" Jealous and me? That too about that gutless? No way! " she said still looking at Randhir.
" Hmm I can see that. " said Akshay smirking inwardly as he saw that his words went unnoticed by Sanyukta.
" Anyway Sanyukta.. Don't you still seem to ignore me that too standing right in front of me? What talent! " Akshay pointed out.
" Uh.. Um.. Sorry yaar! Its just irritating in here. Anyway it is a free session. Lets go to the library and get some silence? What say? " said Sanyukta.
" Okay! Anything to perk up your mood. " said Akshay.
* End of Flashback *
Akshay and Sanyukta walked out of the class hand-in-hand. Sanyukta still thought that only they knew where they were going. But Akshay didn't miss the curious pair of eyes that kept following them.
Silence prevailed for few minutes. Sanyukta seemed like a person in coma with no movements in her.
" Arrey Sanyukta continue kar! Kyun ruk gayi? " said Ritu.
" We went to the library and Akshay told me something there. Listening to what he said my eyes gaped at him in shock and I was statued to that seat in our library." said Sanyukta as she gasped.
" What did he say? " asked Priya.
" I Love You. " ended Sanyukta.
