There is much speculation about Shehnaz, if she will be a good person and what kind of role she will play in JA's life.
Time will tell, but I will stick my neck out and predict that Shehnaz will be a nice person. More than that, a good person. Eccentric but good.
Theatrical style as practiced in Indian cinema and TV does not have subtle character shades facing the audience. Everything is black or white. The characters may not know, but the audience immediately knows who is a good person and who is a bad one. We know all about MA's tricks, AK and SD's trecherous nature, even when other characters in the drama don't have a clue!
So, from just a few seconds we saw of Shehnaz, I had the impression that she is being set up as a good person. A I said, eccentric but good.
What will be her role in the story?
Of course, she could help Jodha sort out and realize her feelings. However, even a pujari or a saint can give lectures about love or Kanha being for everyone, etc., a bit like Chshti Baba already did. Then why a young, beautiful, vibrant female character?
A cynic might guess that a love triangle is being set up which might, at the very least, help drag out the story, help with TRPs, etc.
However, I don't think Jalal will fall in love with Sjehnaz. That will be so out of place and character at this moment. I would be truly stunned if CV's go that way. Some other time maybe, not now.
I also don't think that Shehnaz will fall in love with Jalal. That too would be unlike our young Mirabai!
My guess is that Jalal and Shehnaz will be normally nice to each other. Nothing romanitc but they are both remarkable people, and Shenaz might have helped Jodha in some way which Jalal will find out and appreciate, etc. However, while we will know that nothing wrong is going on (just as we did with Jodha and Sujamal), Jodha may take their interaction wrong way and become jealous. While she is too refined to do or even say anything unseemly, this could lead her to realize the intensity of her love. It may also lead her to understand Jalal's earlier jealousy and forgive his resulting outburst. For example she could realize that even if she knows and accepts that "nothing happened", she remains troubled by the fact the she didn't know where Jalal and Shehnaz went or what they talked about. :)
That role reversal will be a nice touch. I hope CV's do take this route. Pari is a fantastic actress and will bring out all of these subtle emotional shades beautifully.
Anyway, interesting times await us.
