Frankly, I'm disappointed, disillusioned and frustrated with the way this track is shaping up. VR was supposed to be THE serial with a difference, so how on earth did we end up with a track where a whole family is emotionally blackmailing a girl to embrace a life she has flat out rejected outright. I will be the first to say Poongodi was wrong in getting into this marriage in the first place, but the fact is that everyone else is compounding this mistake by forcing her to embrace life with Karthik through their emotional blackmail. Let's put aside the past for a moment and not point fingers at anyone as everyone was at fault in some way or the other in this situation. Looking ahead into the future, let's say Poo succumbs to their pressure and agrees to live with Karthik, what kind of live will they have together and will the family be able to accept it?
Each time Karthik touches Poo, wouldn't he wonder if it's Sara she is thinking about? Each time she looks thoughtful, pensive or sad, wouldn't he wonder if it's Sara she is thinking about? And what about Megala, Balu and MOM? Each time they see Karthik looking upset or angry with Poo or each time the couple has any misunderstanding or fight, wouldn't they wonder if Sara was still a dark spectre between them? The fact remains that Poo has lost all credibility in their eyes and even if she takes an oath to be the model wife and daughter in law, she will never really fully regain her credibility with any of them and neither will any of them be able to fully place their trust in her again. So why force her into this short term solution when in the long run, this can only lead to more problems? Are they too blind to see this or do they just want an act put up during MOM's lifetime to appease him?
As for Vani and Rani's involvement in this mess, I find it the height of hypocrisy that they of all people have been tasked with sorting out Poo and I find it ludicrous that they not only agreed but are actually defending Sara and placing the blame squarely on Poo. Vani chose to stay out of the mess when it was convenient for her, i.e. in order not to provoke Swami further after the temple incident. She chose to jump into the fray when Rani came running to her asking her to stop the wedding. She once again chose to back out when told off by Poo at the wedding. And now she is once again jumping into the fray as the savior when Poo's action threatens MOM's life? Isn't this selfishness as well? So when it involves her sister's family or her father, she is willing to get involved but when it concerns Poo as an individual, she refuses to help? Why the double standards? She refused to arrange for the divorce, fine, now back off!
As for Rani, how can she support Sara knowing the part he played in this mess as well? What right did he have to blackmail Poo into marrying Karthik and threatening her with his own death in the event of Poo-Sara marriage? If he didn't want Poo, there were a hundred ways he could have explained this to her without being abusive. Or he could have told her to hang in there while he sorted out his family problems and then came for her. Why tell her to marry Karthik then whine that he thought it could be sorted out later? For Rani to advise Poo now to think of her family goes against basic decency as she didn't think of any of them when she begged Poo to stop the wedding and marry Sara instead. And the height of it all is to tell Poo to live with Karthik so that Sara doesn't get any bad name for separating Poo-Karthik knowing full well Poo is capable of even living with Karthik and then saying she did it for Sara!
The way I see it, the whole family needs to back off and let Poo and Karthik sort out this mess as this problem involves their lives and no one else's. And if Karthik had any kind of self respect, I would suggest that he himself grant the divorce to Poo and then to hell with her. As for Poo, I sincerely hope that instead of whining and crying and making a bigger mess of things, she thinks calmly about what she wants out of life, makes a decision and then sticks with it, no more pointing fingers and no more shifting the blame to others. If at this point the team decides to show Poo meekly succumbing to everyone's emotional blackmail and starting a life with Karthik, it would be a very big disappointment to the viewers. But I'm afraid they are already going down that path as the old Poo would have rushed to Rani to ask how her Sara is and what happened to him, not stand silently aside in tears. I give up!
