i know the title is slightly controversial but its true guys i mean come on in our kaliyug where its quite free all are atleast "officially" allowed for a lot of freedom in our kaliyug around 1950's or something ladies did not wear dresses what ladies in any epic or mythology wear, atleast a heroine never wore such dresses so frequently earlier now we have changed our perception on the name of being mordern but think about that time where there were no boyfriends "officially" allowed,no divorce allowed nothing that time was so so conservative so how come all the ladies of that time wear sleeveless n backless blouses, even one shouldered for that matter!😕
in draupadi vastraharan though in show nothing was shown any objectionable related to her clothing (thank god for that) but in promos she is shown wearing a one shouldered top/blouse how was that even allowed to such a conservative society of that time?
guys this is just a question out of curiosity its not only about MB but all mythological shows
if someone has an answer to this please reply!

We are talking about a different yug altogether here my friend. In Dwapara yuga mankind wasn't AS shallow as it is today. Yes, there were horrible people then too but if you notice you'll realize that the treatment towards woman has changed with coming ages. In Treta Yuga, Sita was kidnapped. In Dwapara Yuga, Draupadi was almost disrobed and shamed and in Kali Yuga, women get raped and killed!
It is not the clothes you wear that define your status in the society. Draupadi was called a wh**e, unchaste and all those horrible things because she was married to five men. Clothes are NEVER a reason why a woman is shamed. Clothes are an excuse. I'll assure you, a woman covered in cloth from head to toe has equal chances of getting raped just like a woman who would prefer to wear a party dress!

And yes, what did the early man wear? What did his wife wear? The concept of clothes and covering one's body evolved because of the kind of shameful acts that have happened in the society. Look at the men in Mahabharata, they hardly cover their torsos in cloth, its jewellery and a shawl. Why do you think men didn't wear clothes like men in our yug today do? I mean think about it!

No no no, I completely get your point and I understood your question. I was just talking about the mindset of the patriarchal society that India usually is. I know you didn't mean it :)

you knw from Indus Civilization upto vedic period, females were given more importance than males...they had higher stature than men...they had the utmost freedom to do as they wanted... in fact in Indus Valley civilization, women used to wear make up, make hair styles, wear fashionable clothing...they even used to put on lipstick...and m talkng about around 5000-7000 BC era... In ancient times, women were very much modern in thinking and dressing... it was after the vedic period that social evils started to arise... there was conflict between aryan culture and local culture...new society emerged... where men dominated the societal status as compared to women... But, nonetheless, it did not mean women did not have any rights...they did...and they were pretty well dressed...very fashionable... However, it was in the medieval period, that the maximum restrictions of parda tc started to b imposed on women...before that women, especially royal women used to dress beautifully... My point is that it is we that perceive ancient times as ancient even in thinking...they were pretty much modern even at that time! And they were not so conservative as such!

Draupadi in Starbharat was actually pretty well covered up. In the original epic, she was covered in one simple cotton cloth because she was menstruating, and menstruating women back in the ancient days were without silks and jewels for the three days that they bled (for practical purposes if you think about it), so when Draupadi was dragged into the hall by Dushashan, she was clothed in a soiled cotton cloth. How much more humiliating that must have been! 😵 Starbharat actually gave her much thicker clothes and jewelry than the original epic did, maybe because the scene would have been censured if Draupadi was dressed so simply in such a scene.
