A few weeks before, he accidentally filled her maang, and in front of this mirror they stood together as he held her in his arms, for the first time as a married couple.. And he claimed that.. calling her Parvati Rudra Prathap Ranawat!

And yesterday she dressed like a bride in the dress of his mother, gifted to her as shagun by her father in law.. unknowingly preparing for a wedding...right in front of that mirror...

And then he shouted her name, startling her it was the same mirror that showed togetherness and a future together for them that was shattered to pieces accidentally...just when they were to truly embark on a life together.. as husband and wife... Ironical...

The origin of the "break a mirror, face seven years of bad luck" superstition can be traced back to the Romans, who were the first to create glass mirrors. Just because your culture invents something totally useful like a mirror doesn't mean you can't still have some irrational beliefs about its use. The Romans, along with the Greek, Chinese, African and Indian cultures, believed that a mirror had the power to confiscate part of the user's soul. If the user's reflected image became distorted in any way, this could mean a corruption of his or her soul.

I think the shattering of the mirror is more symbolic of the shattering of Paro's illusions of not only Rudra but the situation that they are in. She will now learn the depths of the consequences of her actions on Rudra. She has been romanticizing all of Rudra's actions towards her and calling that love. Her naivety has not allowed her to think about the consequences of what she was asking for. Granted Rudra is her savior. He is the type of man to stand up and step in to protect a woman especially one who would have been raped or sold. Yes, Rudra is attracted to her and is drawn to her but does that mean he loves her? His deep rooted distrust of women doesn't stop him from doing what is right and defending them. He doesn't overstep his boundaries, he doesn't put women down, he shows them their due respect. But she has to realize he is just a man, that has his own flaws and feelings. Hopefully she'll be able to take him off the pedestal she's placed him on.

Good observation, Sunara. I hope this means the shattering of the illusion of godhood that Paro had seen Rudra in, and the start of her seeing him as a human with normal human faults and weaknesses.
